Epic dinner with good value meals and the best views. The inside is beautifully decorated, highly recommended and you should book in advance!
The title says it all....location and view excellent, the restaurant itself not the greatest. Its worth a visit.
I've been for diner at Lai few times - food is good, but the main interest lies in the terrase whith wonderful view at night. On the negative the service (especially booking) has a great room for improvement. Today they took a reservation and called...1:30 before the dinner to say that finally there's no table available. This is typically how you lose customers....just saying.More
Having your food with a nice night view will make your night awesome. It's quite expensive but the food is fine.
We had a dinner at Lai on Friday and the service delivered was terrible. Food is not as good as supposedly it should be. Xiao long bao soup is flat with some very thin gingers sauce. “Xa xiu thao duoc” is very dry, not juicy...at all. Fruitty tutti tastes worse than Nestea. Especially, the service is cold, we even didn’t have any thank you at the end. No one care for us, we had to wait 20’ for bill; although we saw many staff wandering around. A bad service doesn’t worth to a five stars restaurantMore
Poor service and pricey. Nothing like the sister location in Nhang Trang which is much better. For a place that is supposedly high class, you expect to pay, but it needs to be backed up with good service and food. We ordered multiple dishes for...dinner and it felt like we were eating single appetizers non stop. What happen to serving your meal at the same time with the others? Our drinks did not come until the 4th dish. And when i tried to plan ahead, I decided to order dessert before the last entree, it came before the last entree!! Now I’m eating my dessert before my entree! This is our 2nd visit here and I think will be our last, the 1st we did not write a review but the food came cold. Nothing like spending 6 million on cold food. The food is ok, not on par with the price you are paying. I hope they focus and fix their service.More
Was there for a dinner on 25th June . Was given a room as we have 4 adult and with my 2 kid . Saw the review and try the Peking duck . The food was ok but the service was really very bad ....View was good that all . After the food was served, u don’t see waiter again . We pack the noodle as they use the duck to fry the noodle . After the dinner, we are trying to carry the pram down the stairs and the waiter looking at us even I have 2 kid with me . They didn’t even pass the pack noodle to us . Spending 8.5 million for a dinner for 4 of us with this service . Never will I return to this restaurant.More
We went twice to Lai. Once for lunch and we rebooked on the spot for dinner the next day. We had trouble locating the restaurant, but once at the door, a hostess guides you to the right place. The welcome, the views, the food, everything...is fantastic. Hemi, our hostess was so kind and helpful, and our young waiters charming. The space is beautifully decorated with a view to die for over HCM. We went for a DimSum and Peking duck and it was all so delicious, wonderful ceramic tableware and served very professionally. Just watching the pancakes being prepared was a delight. We returned for dinner, a beautiful table outside had been prepared for us. Once again, an amazing level of service. The food we chose was all delicious. At night, the dimsum options are reduced, but you can order from the adjacent Japanese restaurant menu too, so we enjoyed some perfect sushi as well. One of my most memorable meals this trip and would love to return.More

I never got the chance to eat there, but I got to experience bad customer service. I ordered a table online for Friday the 14th (Valentine) - All good, I got my reservation confirmation and booking number. Next day I figured, that outdoor seating, with...skyline view, would be super nice and romantic for my girlfriend and I. So I write them an email, asking for outdoor seating. I get a reply back that, because it's Valentine's Day, there's a minimum order of 4 mil VND for a couple, with a table inside, AND 6 mil VND minimum for an outside table. They don't advertise this, and if I hadn't written the initial email about a request for a table outside, I wouldn't have known, until the day my girlfriend and I, was there. I called the restaurant and talked with the hostess - she didn't seem to understand the issue. Then I talked to the manager, he says that it was a mistake (that they don't mention it on their website) and that he was very sorry - which sadly don't really help much, when I looked forward to a lovely dinner and evening, but not for 4 mil / 6 mil VND - and especially not when it is not advertised. When is it presented (or lack of) like that, it seems like a scam and that they are taking advantage of, the fact that it is Valentine and maxing the price without telling anyone, and then surprising people at the door.More
We had such an amazing experience at Lai. The Peking duck was definitely the highlight of our dinner. The chef carefully sliced the skin off the duck in front of us, it was quite a show to watch, each slice was then wrapped in the...homemade pancake by the staff. It melted in my mouth once I made my first bite of the pancake with duck skin in it. The restaurant itself is like the state of art and it offers the magnificent views of the city. Thank you so much for such a good night out. We will be back.More

I read the many positive reviews and expected a nice dinner at Lai. Unfortunately, it really didn’t live up to my expectations. They were “out” of two of the three dishes I tried to order at 7:00 on a Saturday, which seems like a time...a restaurant should be well supplied. Then they were out of the wine I ordered, one of only a few choices available by the glass. The service wasn’t really great either, I waited without a drink for fifteen minutes after being given the dessert menu, when no one returned to take my order. The dishes I ate were definitely good, so I can certainly give praise to the cooks, but in a city with nearly limitless options for delicious and inexpensive meals, this one just wasn’t worth it.More
