This little shop sells only beef pho with 3 options (ranging from 50k vnd to 60k vnd) and one side dish (youtiao aka chinese churro for 10k). They take your order, take your money, and you wait around to take your own hot bowl of pho to your own seat (which you had grabbed from the person who had just finished a meal). The queue never stops. Most of the customers are locals. The beef are thinly sliced and tasty, but it is the pho that is really, really good. The youtiao, soaked in the pho’s soup, is the icing on the cake. Highly recommended to add this little side dish. (However, as with many street food, there is a strong urge to drink lots of water after the meal).

The best place to have pho in Hanoi is a comfortable restaurant where you first queue to choose your order. They offer both half-done and well-done beef for the pho, and it costs between 40,000 VND and 60,000 VND per bowl. It's recommended to have some quay (Vietnamese fried breadsticks) to go with it. The broth soup is incredible, the meat is tender, and the spring onions are lovely too. Avoid visiting during lunch and dinner times as it is very busy.

This self serviced delicious Pho is often called Pho Bat Dan where it’s located. 49 Bat Dan is the address. Only in this 2nd visit, I found out that their name is Pho Gia Truyen. Nam means well boiled beef brisket. Tai means half raw beef. Chin means well boiled beef with almost no fat. Tai Nam or Nam costs 60,000 VND. Tai costs 55,000 VND. Chin costs 50,000 VND. Egg cost 5,000 VND. Always crowded. Looks like they open from morning until late so you can eat anytime except too late. In Ho Chi Minh City and in many other provinces, Pho is always served with a dish of raw herbal vegetables and lime. Here they put spring onion on the bowl and sometimes the raw chilly is missing from the table. No fresh lime is given. The chilly sauce in the bottle doesn’t have any signature taste as it’s just like the ready made sauce they buy in gallons. The next morning we ate again. About 20 people were waiting in line but didn’t take long until our turn.

We went to this Pho restaurant at 5:40 pm today, November 11, 2023. Because this Pho shop will be officially open in about 10 minutes and my wife brought food (fried spring rolls) to eat while we waited for their serving; As soon as she just ate, my wife saw the owner and the shopkeeper staring and whispering to each other so my wife stopped and put the food away. When I went to the queue to order two bowls of Pho, the owner insulted me and my wife, calling us to eat “like dogs without his permission” even though there was no instruction or reminder from them. I told my wife to stop eating, but my wife advised me to still order food and go home for fear of being scolded, we ate and felt very humiliated even though we paid in full. This is our family's favorite restaurant for many years ago and this afternoon I wanted to take my wife (who had just fasted all day to undergo a colonoscopy at a nearby Hospital) to eat after having a medical examination and remembering the old taste, but we were really shocked and humiliated. Foreign tourists are always directed to these culinary addresses when coming to Hanoi, but you should also consider and be careful with places like this.

Excellent beef pho, mainly locals eating here which I view as a sign it's authentic and good value. This pho is more savoury than others I had in Hanoi, I found it rich and filling. Good value for money, I would come again!

Located at Hanoi Old Quarter - Don’t be deceived by the look of the shop. - Menu & price is displayed in the shop but is in their language - Ordered 3 bowls of Beef Pho. Look like any other Pho but it taste amazingly good!!! Nearby Train Street (600m abt mins) Hoa Lo Prison (1.1km abt 13mins) Vietnam Military History Museum (1.1km abt 14mins) The Imperial Citadel of Thăng Long (1.4km abt) These 2 attractions are beside each other. Summary: Pho is always on our mind. That’s how good it is.

I ate here 5 times during my 5 days in Hanoi. The Pho Bo is simply fantastically delicious and the atmosphere is great. There is only one dish in three variations. Sometimes it is very busy. But the boss has everything under control. And somehow you always find a place!

The Pho here was so delicious. I loved it. The eatery was a bit small and very crowded. Be ready to wait around 15 minutes or more to be served. However, it still is a good way to enjoy Hanoi life.

One of the oldest and most famous Pho restaurants. We cash you first and serve you directly at the counter. Everyone brings their flight back to the table (practical for the staff who are only there to clear the tables). Customers parade. Sometimes people queue in the street all the way to the road. Good pho to try.

The owner's attitude looks down on customers, treating customers like beggars. Pho taste is bland. Not worth the money and time to eat. I heard it's a 100 year old heirloom but will never come back and won't recommend it to friends.

Best pho I had in Vietnam, period. Rich, savory, unadorned with side items, it didn't need them. Broth was the real star. None of the excess star anise, sweetness, etc. Rich and complex broth. Yeah, it does fill up fast, as it is a tiny place, but I found the owner businesslike, but friendly, perhaps not so much to the previous reviewer who gave them a bad review about their Pho when actually the owners were upset when they brought outside food into the establishment. Just sayin'. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g293924-d4427104-r887564309-Pho_Bat_Dan-Hanoi.html#

We had been here twice. I must say that we had the best noodle soups ever. We would highly recommend the mixture of rare and well-done. OMG!!! It's delicious. We will definitely come back again.

This small hole in the wall place dishes out one of the best Pho I've eaten in Hanoi. Within the old quarters, you must visit this place.

OMG..the best beef pho i've tried. Went there twice. VND50,000 for a tasty and fulfilling bowl of super delicious Pho Bo. The stock is..omg you must try it yourself! If locals pack this shop for their pho..i'm pretty sure it can't go wrong. Local knows best.
