This is one of my favourite coffee spots in Hanoi. Sandwiched between 2 clothing shops, it's easy to miss. With strong Chinese influences and a serenity unlike the bustling streets of the Old Quarter, make your way up the narrow and winding staircases to the...highest floor to enjoy amazing views overlooking the Hoàn Kiếm Lake.More

A must if you wanna have egg coffee in a very unique hanoian place (second floor terrace, interior garden). I have to say that this place is beautiful. Note... egg coffee is not for everybody. I'm a sweets person and a coffee person, but for...some reason, I just didn't like egg coffee, so keep that in mind.More

Finding it is the first challenge as the sign is above the alley entrance at the back of a silk store that fronts the property. You walk into the alley /courtyard entrance where you are brusquely waved upstairs. Go to the very top for the...terrace view to the Hoan Kiem lake. Not a wide or great view but pleasant on a hot day. Waitresses are nice. Egg Coffee is sweet and creamy.More

Great view of the lake if you get to the top of the stairs! The egg coffee is really good and can compare with the best at Cafe Giang!

There isn't much up the rooftop, except a small glimpse of the lake. Coffee is ok. You need to climb a long set of stairs going up the rooftop area.

Beautiful hidden cafe near the lake and in old quarter. You go into a small alleyway, go past a massage place, until you see a counter to your left. Make your order, then start climbing up the floors, four of them! This will lead you...to a nice rooftop overlooking the lake. They have all sorts of coffee including egg coffee, and alcoholic drinks; tiger and Saigon beers available, and for reasonable prices. Recommended for a relaxing drink in downtown Hanoi!More

The atmosphere of this place is great and I imagine that is why it is scored so high. Service is bad, coffee is just okay, and the pho was filled with ants!! The beef was suspect. There is better coffee in Hanoi, and obviously better...food too.More

Came here directly after arriving in Hanoi, checking into our hotel and in need for some coffee and Phô. We found this place by pure chance (nearest one on Google maps) and were totally glad we did! At first we nearly missed it because it...is well hidden behind some silk/spa combi shop, with just a little sign pointing to the back with the name of this Cafe. But upon entering we were stunned by the beauty and peace of the inner courtyard. If you dare climbing 4 stories of small and winding stairs you're rewarded with an ok view of the lake, however if you're not sitting in the front its not worth it and even then you have another building in front of you blocking part of the view. We didn't come for that anyway, just looking for some peace and quiet after some stressful rainy days in Hoi An and Da Nang. That's why we chose our seats on the first story, on the little plateau built overlooking the courtyard, and it was perfect. Prices were okay-ish considering the location, and the food and drinks were good. I'd say it's worth stopping by for escaping the noise and stress of the old quarter for a while.More

We were interested to visit Cafe Pho Co after reading about it in a guidebook. Our experience was beyond bad. There are basically 2 food items on the menu; pho and spring rolls. There was no pho. Ok, we ordered vegeterian spring rolls. There were...none. Ok, we'll take meat spring rolls. The meat was fish. Bones included. For the price, which wasn't cheap, we could have had decent good almost anywhere. The view of the lake was uninspiring. I'd say give it a miss.More

A good cup of egg coffee with a view literally as the cafe located in this old building allows its patrons to go right up to the 4th floor to enjoy the view of Hoan Kiem Lake while sipping coffee.

It was kind of a secret place for me since I was a student. The cafe was located in an old house of Hanoi, hidden behind the silk store. Going in inside, you can be surprised like you just entered another world. The house was...really old with old stuff and decoration from long time ago. The interesting things were that they had a roaster and a big fat cute cat hanging around. To the second floor, it was the area to pray for ancestor of the owner. It was kind of sad for me to visit the place last time because they fixed the 3rd floor and there was no window to look out to the lake. I'd prefer to stay in the 3rd floor because it was not too hot by the heat from the rooftop down. But I think it was not my favorite floor anymore. The top of the house was cool with the lake view. There were always many people there because everybody wanna see the lake and a part of the old quarter from above. Their famous drink was egg coffee although it was not the best place for egg coffee. Another suggestion was Coconut coffee, that drink was super cool. If you are travelling in summer in long hours and you feel tired, try salty apricot or salty lime juice. It was quite hard for foreigners to enjoy it, but once you tried, you would realize that it helped you recover a lot. The staff was not friendly but quite ok. Last time, we decided to take the seats inside which was mezzanine with the view straight to the old house under and beside there were bamboo trees. I think it was a quite nice place, tooMore

High up, airy, great views. And egg coffee is surprisingly delicious! Coffee topped with thick silky cinder-toffee-esque soft meringue. We came twice!
