The food was good, there's no denying it. But I wouldn't say it's Gastronomy and it's far too expensive.

Nice decor, atmosphere, service, etc. Food very good. Good wine selection too. Very consistent throughout. Amusing that it happens to also be opposite to my favourite pho ga shop in Hanoi ($2 chicken noodle soup).

My girlfriend and I decided to dine at LaBadiane as our one very nice dinner during our stay in Hanoi. The rest of the trip we mostly ate vietnamese street food, which is excellent and very cheap. This place was not worth the money. The...More

A truly special dinner here. French/Vietnamese in a beautiful and serene setting. High end food, so pricey for Hanoi but a bargain by international standards. Food was uniformly delicious and beautifully presented; excellent service.

Really great food, a little pricey considering other restaurants in the area but well worth the additional. Dessert probably my highlight but all courses superb.

Came here for dinner with my family. The service was okay, but I wasn't impressed by their dishes. It's not really delicious as expectation.

A must try in Hanoi. It is not too far from the Hoa Lo (Hanoi Hilton) prison. They serve divine French gourmet food in intimate, serene surroundings. Pricey but worth it.

There's nothing fancy about the location of La Batiane, but that doesn't mean much in Hanoi. The dining room is decidedly French and nicely appointed. I wasn't that impressed that even tho' I informed the restaurant we were celebrating a special birthday, they gave us...More

Description
Created in December, 2008, by three French friends, Minh Spielmann, Benjamin Rascalou & Anthony Balenci, La Badiane -French for the Star Anise spice- is heralding its claim to be one of the best restaurants in Vietnam dedicated to fusion of flavors and international gastronomy.

Surrounded by harmonious leaf plants, & walls predominantly white alternating with carefully chosen vivid colors, the place provides for a true feeling of calm and elegance, which gathers the best conditions to let your senses express themselves.

When coming in, an open-sky corridor planted with luxuriant vegetation leads you towards the heart of the restaurant. One’s attention will be instantly caught by the multitude of perfumes & aromas flowing out of the open front kitchen.

Then, depending on your mood & weather permitting, you can have your meal in the airy Patio, calm, convivial & surrounded by photographic art works. For a more intimate setting with warm colors you can choose one of the three air-conditioned rooms located between the ground and the first floor.

At la Badiane, all is about food but there’s also great attention paid to the service and the overall atmosphere, so that we make sure you enjoy every aspect of your meal. La Badiane, top 500 Restaurants in Asia by Miele Guide and “Certificate of Excellence” by Trip Advisor in 3 consecutive years 2012, 2013 and 2014 will never fail to satisfy you. Moreover, at this very same “picky” travel community, there were more than 300 upvotes as “EXCELLENT” for La Badiane – a formidable rating which can only be seen for top-end restaurants.
