I've eaten at this place many times in the past and the food and prices are great - that's not the problem. The problem is during these coronavirus times, to go there and see tables that have been barely cleaned, staff not wearing gloves or...masks, a filthy kitchen (from what we could see of it when we paid the bill), and a big table of "20-something" Euro expats laughing about how their friends are all in quarantine and that they would get the virus and didn't care - which, unfortunately, seems to be pretty normal with the folks who frequent this place. It felt unsafe and we will not be returning.More

It was my wife's birthday treat, we had travelled for well over an hour and we were both starving! This place is a shack - metal poles supporting a clear, plastic corrugated roof. The man-hole cover for the drain (situated in the eating area) is...not sealed so the smell of sewerage combined with the heat becomes unbearable. Most of the crockery is chipped and dirty - ALL of the crockery needs cleaning properly. The "sips' from previous customers are still stained on the cups. The tables are wiped clean with a dirty cloth so food and grease is smeared across the surfaces. We ordered identical meals - full English breakfast with extra bacon and tea. The plates arrived 5 minutes apart - one without the extra bacon and one without tea. The stainless steel teapots contain far too much water for a single teabag so only pathetic weak tea is possible. Their "cider" is probably the most disgusting liquid I have ever tasted in my entire life - I'm not exaggerating! I have never tasted anything more repulsive. Clearly home-made it tastes only of cheap yeast and tree bark - indeed the ice cubes they add without permission probably improves the flavour. Absolutely vile! Totally undrinkable and most repulsive! I complained but only received a smirk - no explanation, no apology and certainly no refund! Totally unacceptable! To be fair the food was actually cooked quite well (aside from the ever-overwhelming burned oil flavour) and it is a shame that poor hygiene and appalling customer service defeated any reason to visit again.More

Walk down and into home 38 for the first for the breakfast as we heard a lot of positivity about it and we weren't disappointed! The service was very good and was quick even tho the place was very full! Had a look at the...menu again and said we should come back again for dinner some evening and we did just that BUT!! Walked in staving and really looking forward to try some food but when we got to the restaurant we got inside the door went to sit down and asked about evening menu but got a really smart answer off some old Aussie guy who has got something to do with the place, hopefully not customer service anyway because his attitude to us was shocking!! "Can you not tell the time it's 5:05 and evening menu doesn't start until 5:30! Now I can take a joke but he was not joking so we actually just turned got up off our seats and walked out biting my lip and found somewhere else unfortunately for them 😁More

We were craving a breakfast with bacon and eggs and Home38 did an amazing job at providing this for us! English breakfast and the Canadian breakfast! Food was delicious, filling and just out right satisfying. Friendly people around and friendly staff

Huffing and puffing, enormous eye rolling from the owner who seems to just stand around smoking or bossing his staff around, so I'm unsure why he is so uptight ? Could understand more if he was actually working. Being in the cafe makes you feel...like you are the biggest inconvenience to them, not exactly what you want as a paying customer. Been here 4 times now, exactly the same every time. Don't open a cafe if interacting with normal people makes you want to stab your eyes out.More

We've been a couple of times whilst in Hanoi. You can't fault the food it's lovely, the breakfast especially nice. It's very well priced and the staff are friendly. My reason for only giving a 4 is the flies. I think a few fly traps...are needed as constantly swatting flies away whilst eating is not the best way to enjoy the delicious food.More

Thank you for your review, we will look into fly traps, however as an outdoor cafe it is rather difficult to control, particularly at this time of year. We are glad you enjoyed the food and hope to see you again if you return to...More

Super place to enjoy a great breakfast from good old English through Canadian with amazing crumpets as well as a veggie option. Not only a brekkie spot though. Their other food is also great. Very reasonably priced as well. For British visitors you will be...pleased to know they have HP sauce.More

Home38 serves delicious breakfasts at reasonable prices with quality ingredients and for this reason I've been back numerous times. Even though the food is great quality for the price, it is very evident that the wait staff and chefs miscommunicate frequently which causes problems with...order accuracy and wait times. Some of my friends complain about the flies but such is Hanoi. All in all I've had good experiences and I hope the wait staff in particular will improve over time.More

We really enjoyed breakfast here on a couple of mornings while staying with friends in Hanoi. The breakfasts were almost most like being at home but could be warmer when served. Great coffee 🤗

Thank you for your positive review, and we will address the issue you pointed out. However to give us a three star review does not seem to reflect your comments. As you said you really really enjoyed the breakfast and that the coffee was Great.

I visited with my friends and honestly, this was the best breakfast I've ever had! It's the first place I've found that does ; HP brown sauce, Heinz baked beans, home made chunky bread toast,REAL sausages(not the crappy cheap ones), amazing bacon and English tea....Superb service and the owner was very friendly, great location! You will not be disappointed. They also make American and Canadian breakfasts.More

Home 38 is a convenient place to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. The full English breakfast ( enjoyed very much the bacon and the English sausage) and the roasted chicken sandwich were nice and the portion is quite generous. If I had to do a negative...comment it would be on the lemon juice which was absolutely tasteless.More

Great place with welcoming staff and friendly patrons. End up spending time wrapped up in great conversation with everyone there. The food is on point! I never thought it would be difficult to find a place with a "western breakfast". Little did I know eggs,...sausage, bacon and such is not standard morning food here in Vietnam. Home38 offers a full english breakfast that is to die for. As for dinner, make sure you have one of their delicious burgers. Many different kinds to choose from and the size is large. Make sure to wash it down with their homemade cider. Fixes well with a juicy burger. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat.More
