The setting is simple but the food here packs a punch. Go for Khao Soy which is a northern Thailand delicacy. Its deep fried noodles in a spicy curry broth and every bite sends you to heaven. Provided you enjoy spicy food.

We asked our taxi driver to drop us somewhere for Khao Soy and we ended up at Huen Phen. We came for the Khao Soy and it didn't disappoint, I had the fish and my partner had the pork & chicken version, both were amazing. We also had some salads and drinks and all was amazing. The price was amazing... More

Delicious khao soy, glass noodle salad...Mango salad very average...ok service, small helpings and very very hot if the fan isn't on you...Btw, food gets screwed all over Thailand due to pallid western palates - ensure to tell them to make it spicy or else why eat Thai food? G

Good location. Wide variety of northern food. I think it's too salty for northern food. High cost for quality of food. Could find better restaurants with same amount of money.

If you are looking for a good local restaurant when visiting Chiangmai, I totally recommend this place. The food was nice and the price was reasonable to pay.

The food was mediocre along with the service, but the real kicker came when the manager in charge told me my drink cost more than the listed menu price. When I explained that the menu was not clear and I had ordered the 30baht drink, all she said was sorry and walked away without giving me any change. The customer... More

We arrived hopeful because the restaurant itself is very Thai and pretty, but unfortunately the standard of food and service wasn't as good. The staff weren't very enthusiastic at all and didn't make the meal any better. We traveled all around Thailand and this is the only bad meal we had!! Firstly one of our dishes never arrived and they... More

Best Tum ma khua (eggplant spicy sald), best tum khanun (jack fruit spicy salad), fried chicken, Kanom Jean Nam Ngew (rice nooldes with northern Thai curry). Very cheap, the portions are small. So much fun to order almost everything they have and share. they can be very busy and the wait can be long. always go back.

The Huen Phen was one of those Northern Thai restaurants which were recommended in our guide book. That's why we went there for dinner; it turned out to be a mixed experience. There are in fact reasons to go there: The ambience is quaint, bordering on crazy; to call it overdecorated would be a great understatement. That makes this restaurant... More

The food is really great, tasty authentic and varied. The plates are very small (recommend three each) but very cheap. Will be going back
