We were in Bangkok for 5 nights. The second night we had reservations at Le Normandie, and it was so good! We had great food and the best wine. The professionals that took care of us were not pretentious at all, which is great. We...are looking forward to our next visit.More

Service: outstanding Wine: fantastic Food: ok Often find tasting menus get worse through the courses - some mind blowing starters that devolve into less and less good larger courses. Opposite here: starters and small dishes were fine but not great, but the lamb main dish...was really incredibly special. Cheese selection was strong too. Ended up at ฿35k for two. Note they have a very strict dress code in theory but after I complained pre-attendance they let me in in jeans and sneakers and lent me a jacket. It was a good meal in a good setting with excellent wine and service, but not playing in the same league as some of the other 2 star places in BangkokMore

Excellent lunch on our last day before returning home. An unabashedly traditional Michelin oriented French experience on offer here. Don't expect foams or ferments or dry ice plumes but beautifully presented, technically well handled prime ingredients in dishes of great complexity, depth of flavour and real...subtlety. All the trimmings as well..... multiple hors d'oeuvres , petit fours, excellent bread, Normandy sourced butter and a presentation cake on departure. Still finding their feet so not yet perfect.....didn't quite nail the Red Mullet main as the fish overwhelmed the rest of the ingredients and the veal could have spent a couple of extra minutes in the pan but that aside everything else was properly two Michelin star quality, with the desserts as good as anything we've eaten in equivalent three star French establishments. Still happy to rate the food as excellent on balance. The great French weighted wine list is expensive and wines by the glass are no bargain either, but that's Thailand for you. Room has had a modern refurb; the view is terrific and the service is precise and professional with an extremely helpful sommelier. Lunch is good value. We both had the 3+cheese course option; had an excellent 2014 Alsace Riesling at 4000 baht and still paid less in total than an earlier, (actually technically poor) meal at Paste with one beer and one cocktail. Go figure......More

Since more than twenty years in Bangkok this was our bi-weekly restaurant during these years and we contemplated the growth of chef Arnault Dunant Sauthier up to his two start Michelin which was largely merited. After a covid period in last December 2021 the name...of Alain Roux appeared and since then we went three time. The first time we went, 3 days after re-opening, was the cuisine deceiving (overcooked, no inspiration); then the two stars earned by Mr Arnault were transferred to the resident chef, working under the umbrella pr Mr. Roux (strange attitude from Michelin), we decided to retry once one month later to confort or not our "feelings" , unfortunately the same overcooking, tasteless and without creativity for a "two start Michelin. Not convinced we mad a last trial yesterday for the appearance of the new "spring menu" . It was the most horrible culinary experience in Bangkok since the 20 years we reside here and would not recommend it to any real cuisine connoisseur or lover. Definitely to avoid, even if the table service and wine choice or pairing is outstanding. Forget this oneMore

a) On arrival the staff appeared not to find the reservation and made us sit on a small sofa for some time. Then we were led to our table. We had made reservations via the hotel concierge and also clearly mentioned we were vegetarian. b)...When we saw the menu it was different from the one on the web site. There were only two vegetarian options - one starter and one main course. Both sounded very sad and the staff did not care when we said that these were no options at all - and we would have nothing to eat. They did not care at all - it appeared they were hoping we would leave. c) As we were already there, and the hotel had no other options - except the Veranda - we decided to order a cheese platter. d) Our drinks arrived but even after 15 mins no bread basket was offered. We had to ask and even then, it arrived after a few minutes. The staff did not have any concern that their guests were reduced to having a drink, bread and cheese. No effort was made to offer food options or prepare something for us. This always happens at classy places. e) The cheese platter was served with poor grace - even at this stage the cheese platter could have been served with crackers, some grapes or other fruit just to makeup for not being able to serve food. f) The service was indifferent and really poor throughout. g) When the bill was presented they tried to charge use for three cheese platters. This was adding insult to injury. We got some lame excuse from the manager about being only 6 cheeses per platter. While I did not count, we certainly did not have 18 cheeses. In any case, this should have been mentioned at the start of the service. When I pointed out the poor experience the manger said they would not charge. The manager leads by poor example - if the gentlemen was indeed the manager. His attitude was among the worse.More

Only the ambiance of the restaurant and the service plays the significance role . Appetizer is good but our main is lukewarm and...the presentation is quite poor . There is no hint of any saltiness over what is required . Shamed ! Nice place , great service but food .More

My fifth visit at this beautiful place. The first with the new culinary chef Alain Roux. From a 3 Michelin star chef I expect a perfect cooking level and savoury sauce. Unfortunately both was missing. John dory and duck was undercooked, only the foie gras...was at the expected level. Lobster and dessert was a lack of flavor. The service who always was outstanding as well lost its magic.More

Slow service and very bland boring food that is done well for what it is I suppose. The new chef/service is a deep disappointment compared to the previous excellent crew. The food is very underwhelming. I hate to use a stereotype of bland boring English...food served painfully slowly but this would represent it perfectly while imitating Michelin quality French cuisine which this is most certainly not. Save yourself the sadness and head to Soi 31 for the real deal.More

I suddenly informed staff and he took a very quick action by...taking the dish to check with the kitchen team before came back to inform me that it’s a sheep hair and confirmed to change for the new dish. I understand that it can be happen and accepted his apologies. Staff service and everything are perfect. Top notch quality food and setting, taste, presentation, service, room atmosphere. Each dish and bite have the complexity and richness of flavor and taste that you may expect from a two-starred Michelin restaurant, in perhaps the most iconic place in Bangkok. Special mention to the...Potato, Caviar & Sea Urchin sequence: what a signature dish! Everything was spot on. I spent a bit of time reading recent reviews - I personally did not experience any of the negative feedback that may have been shared. I consider myself as demanding when it comes to dining quality. I was fully satisfied with every aspect of the restaurant, from venue to food to service, and warmly recommend Le Normandie for special occasions. Last but not least: if you are a cheese lover, you must try the Cheese trolley from the Alps - such a level of quality and variety of cross-border Alps cheeses is just unique. Cherry on the cake: it is served with a N-8 Opinel. Memorable.More
