I was nervous about the mixed reviews, but chose to go there since we were staying at the Mandarin and didn't want to fight traffic. We had a table outside by the river, service was fine (the waiters don't have much personality but that's not what interested us). The food was SOOOOO good - we chose the signature dishes -... More

I highly recommend this place ( the terrace) for a romantique dinner; by the river in a summer night is a perfect plan. Food was delicious, cocktails very well balanced! Ask for a quiet table and I'm sure you won't regret! One the bests dinning experiences in Bangkok!

Had a birthday dinner reservation for me and for my spouse at this restaurant. They suggested that their boat could pick us up from the Hilton hotel's pier, but nobody ever showed up to pick us up. The Mandarin Oriental's F&B manager was very apologetic afterwards via email, but harm was already done.

Good place to try Thai food accompanied by a very nice show of traditional Thai dances. Food is a fixed price set menu with 4 courses and several foods on each course. Appropriately small portions are served so you can taste them all with out being over stuffed. Try white Thai wine that is offered by the glass or bottle,... More

I wrote about my terrible experience at the Sala Rim Nam Terrace Restaurant. As a chef and owner of a large catering company in San Francisco the food and service was so poor as to have rated a terrible review from me. Upon returning to my hotel (the fabulous Shangri La - which I wish I had arranged to dine... More

I went with my wife and daughter to eat in their restaurant across the water and to see the floor show. The crossing over on the boat which takes about 2 minutes was very enjoyable both ways. The show lasts for 1 hour and 10 minutes, and the waiters start serving a very large amount of food for the whole time of... We dine here at least once every time we stay at the hotel. The extensive menu offers diners the chance to try authentic Thai food from across this incredible country. They will graciously accommodate any requests and tailor your meal to your liking. I can best describe this as a fine dining experience but with service that comes from the... More

We spent our first evening here. The set menu was very good and we enjoyed the dance show. Slightly annoyed that the dancers want to be paid for photos at the end of the show as it is expensive anyway

Came for lunch as part of a tour group. Lovely buffet with many kinds of dishes. I particularly enjoyed the green curry.

We arrived at Sala Rim Naam via shuttle boat from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. I wish we had left enough time for cocktails in the beautiful lobby of the hotel before the 10-15 minute trip across the Chao Phraya River to Sala Rim Naam. Delicious food and lovely presentation followed by excellent traditional Thai entertainment in a comfortable setting. Given... More

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
