Very nice location. Food is really impressive portion wise, but low low cooking quality. No manager to be seen (except in review comments), and they couldnt provide a wine list. Overwhelmingly unimpressive experience.

Very good German food - of course not authentic German kitchen as you would probably get whilst traveling through Germany. Quality is superb and you have all the main dishes you can wish for. I had the pork and sausage platter and i can only recommend that to everybody who goes there! Nice German beer, not as much choice as... More

I love German food and this place does not disappointment ,starting with the hot rolls - too good to have just a couple , we always end up ordering more . The potatoes and sauerkraut are excellent the menu is huge extensive variety of dishes. I really like the schnitzels and the sausage plate and I love the pork knuckle... More

Really bad news! Anyone seeing the beautiful surroundings would expect something nice at this place somehow connected to the German community. What a mistake! Any old railstation restaurant in Germany would have better food and veriety. The menu has shrunk over the years but the potato portions grown along with the prices. The pork shnitzel was two large squares of... More

It is not a purely German restaurant, more of a nice mix between, Swiss/Austrian/German and also Thai dishes. The majority of the guest are locals, so dont expect the typical beergarden feeling restaurant although they have a very good variety of beer there. Of course the food is not 100 percent like at home but still very delicious and reasonable... More

A bit overrated in here I gave it a try. I don't expect it to taste like back home, but somebody should have showed them in all that years and proximity to the Goethe institute- how to cook proper German food and improve what they do now with little effort. One timer for me

Friends invited us for the night and I wasn't aware it was German until we got there, and like many places in Bkk its up a back street off another back street. The food was in large servings and reasonably tasty, Thir is a good selection of dishes and an extensive beer list. The decor was funny in that most... More

The restaurant is situated within the compound of the Bangkok Goethe Institute. Decoration is a bit strange (Thai paintings next to cuckoo’s clocks) but the food really made up for it. And that was count after all. Beef goulash with noodles was delicious and the apple strudel didn’t disappoint. Trust me, I am German. Portions were generous and prices in... More

The food is of good quality and it may help against really bad home sickness. Personally I prefer proper German food or proper Thai food - not a big fan of this kind of culinary mishmash.

Staying in Sathorn

Neighbourhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
