The restaurant was best known for its chicken soup noodle, beef noodle and steam buns when I was in college years ago. My family and I stopped by two weeks ago and found it has changed its style and is more tourist oriented. In one hand, the service is better, at the other, sadly, it lost the original flavor. However,... More

I definitely recommend this restaurant - great food, reasonable price, good service. I read about it on Tripadvisor and am so glad I brought my family there to check it out. It is a short walk from Dongmen Station Exit 4.

Shanghai food at its finest. Please try the shrimp in salted egg, this was to die for. We also had the mushroom xiao long bao, which was rather tasty as well.

Just round the corner from the original Din Tai Fung, Kao Chi is a great alternative serving some similar food but providing a different taste to the palate. We enjoyed their special dishes which are highlighted on the menu, with a special mention of the Tungpo Pork (Braised Pork Belly) that comes with buns. This was the BEST dish on... More

Loved the pan fried buns. Xiao long bao was good too. Unfortunately service was quite bad. Despite not many people in the restaurant, staff are walking around doing nothing instead of refilling tea or serving customers.

We chose Kaochi instead of din tai feng in Yongkang street because we have tried din tai feng a few times in several countries. The taste was good, i felt dim sums tasted almost the same as din tai feng. We've tried fried calamaries and it was the best!

We were targeting DTF for an early lunch on a Sunday morning but the 100 minute wait was just too much. Fortunately, offline TA showed this place a few meters away and having eaten the previous day at DTF, would say that this is a very good alternative if not better than DTF because of better service and less wait.... We went there as as we heard from a local cabbie that it serves better xiao long bao than Din Tai Feng. The xiao long bao was very good, the skin seems softer as compared. The beef noodles was very good, with very flavorful soup. The pan fried bao seems to be popular so we ordered, and it was delicious.... More

This is the number two spot for dumplings and Chinese food so while everyone else was warming up to a 35 min wait for a seat; we opted to come here. There is seating both upstairs and down although downstairs seemed a little quieter. Larger parties can be seated upstairs and the volume gets beer loud. The mango beer and... More
