Re-located this year in the yet to be completed Ambassador Hotel in central Kathmandu, this casual Japanese restaurant provides excellent dining. Many options are available and I found the sashimi and tempura prawns to be superb. Well worth a visit!

Four of us went out to this eatery and ended up paying whopping price for the food that only left us half-full/still hungry. The highlight of this dinner for me was supposed to be Ramen but I was left dazed and confused when I finished the noodles in three sparingly small bites and slurps. Very disappointin. Nonetheless sushi and sashimis... More

Was fortunate to have been invited for dinner at Kotetsu by my very warm and gracious hosts in Kathmandu. Sitting with great anticipation around the teppan while the chef began prepping was a great experience — he went in first with oyster mushrooms followed by garlic. And then came the kobe steak. Thick, juicy and beautifully marbled [photo posted]. The... More

Ok, I appreciate that sushi is even available in Kathmandu, and good effort on ambiance and service, but previously frozen fish tastes previously frozen, the rice was not sushi rice, and our order was messed up. If you must have sushi, this check's the box and the staff are friendly and trying hard. Don't sit near the teppanyaki area or... More

We ordered tempura, spicy tuna rolls, some other roll with lots of different ingredients, teppanyaki... And loved it all but must say most impressed by sushis: great ingredients, fresh, and just the right amount of rice.

Checked loadshedding schedules in advance to avoid the problem of a smoky dining space due to the open grill, but other disappointments awaited. Only large bottles of sake were available (not the two smaller bottles on the menu), and when my father opted for shoju, it was topped with water to the point that it didn't taste of anything. Then... More

Everything looked well and fine but after ordering few appetizer,we were told that there were NO dinner dishes like no RICE not even sushi rice,no trout fish,no salmon, and many more. Our whole dinner was ruined. Shame to KOTETSU after all these years. Our butler was Meena who was very cooperative but totally it was such a BUMMER. Hopeless.

The sushi is really good. The meat and the sushi price is worth the taste. Most of the chefs are Japanese. The place is small but cute. The toilets are clean as well as the eating area.

the food are so delicious and so tasty. the only word you say after eating the food in here is "OISHI" which means delicious in Japanese. The chefs are always in grace mood and greet every customer in a joyful manner.

We tried yellow tail, salmon, octopus and tuna sashimi. The yellow tail and tuna stood out and were the most tasty. Chicken teriyaki was also nice. They are the most friendly service we encountered in nepal. I could go back only to say namaste and find literally the whole staff including the chefs greeting back with a smile. a bit... More
