Pumpernickel had been institution since I I first came to Nepal some years ago. But even before closing, before Covid (it hasn't reopened after Covid and everything else is open now) it was on the downhill. They had good coffee and nice bakery items, including...cheesecake. But the lunch menu has been less than average, rather poor. The worst thing was the toilet - filthy, overflowing, just disguising. And there are in that area (Thamel) some really nice paces with decent, proper toilet. The toilet in Pumpernickel was facing garden where people were eating - it's just horrible..More

The best thing was here cheesecake, but not sure if the price justifies the proration size. Other bakery items - good enough. Nothing else stands out apart of cheesecake, which is good, but not perfect. Coffee is quite fine. The place had nice interiors and...spacious - waiting for it to open up again after COVID.More

We visited the place for few breakfasts, it's absolutely gorgeous place to be at. The foods tastes so great and they are so fresh. This is a must go place while in Thamel.

What a WONDERFUL place to eat in Thamel. Everything super fresh, staff are delightful. Went in for a little something and ended up having lunch and getting a bunch of things to go as well. Feels a lot like a cafe that you would find...in Paris with beautiful music and the smell of fresh baked bread. Hope to return to Kathmandu sometime and you can tell I will be making a special trip to Pumpernickel Bakery. Thank you SO much!!!More

Great haven for food. If you are craving some easy safe food after your trek this may be just the place. I’ve used it for a couple of years now and always had friendly service, a smiling face and delicious food. WiFi if you require...and for me Devine croissants!More

Went here twice since I was missing European pastries a little bit, and was pleasantly surprised! Fluffy croissants, not overloaded with sugar, great coffee, and such a lovely lady at the cash counter! Also loved the classical lounge music they play - gave me a...little time out from hectic Thamel! Definitely recommend it!More

I went to this Thamel institution ealry one morning for coffee and toast. Initial service was friendly and after ordering I took a seat in the garden - without doubt the best aspect of Pumpernickel - and the coffee arrived promptly. It was luke warm...and rather than the hoped for black it was merely brown: the coffee needed more, well, coffee. Perhaps they were so keen to serve the coffee quickly they forgot that it should actually have contained coffee. This was not the issue with the toast - no rush with this. After a couple of reminders and still no toast, I left.More
