The dholl puri is a signature dish of Mauritius. Locals love it, so do tourists. 2 dholl puris will keep you full for 4 hours. You may like to drain them down with alouda, also available near the stalls, in the market.

Fine if you visit it, do not warry if missed ;) Not must-see object. You can buy fruits there on higher price than I saw in shoping mall.

Dholl puris are not only tasty and cheap but also a balanced diet!!!! If someone visits Mauritius a taste of this quick meal/snack is a must! Dholl puris are a type of farata stuffed with dholl gram served with a variety of 3 vegetables and chilli or chutney. Of course the chilli is optional and the dholl puris can be... More

Yummy dholl puris with good filling. I seldom go there. My son likes to buy dholl puris there. Clean and not very oily, recommended.

I have been a fan of the various Dholl Puri stalls during my business visits in Port Louis. I regularly had Dholl puris which costed just MUR 12/- for breaskfast. I sometime gulped them one after the another changing different stalls just to try out a different taste. The fish curry which was added was just the most magnificent part... More

If you go to buy dholl Puri, choose the best one. There are merchants everywhere. Dewa (at Rose Hill market) is the best. At Port Louis also there are some very good merchants. Dholl puri are cheap but a bit spicy, good for the taste. Good for lunch.

I visited them all and if you are a vegetarian like me, it is a mecca for vege food lovers with a very spicy twist. They are cheap and very filling. Bring your own bottled water as the locals will offer you a drink from a communal one - quite a laugh actually.
