This is a restaurant that I'll recommend to anyone visiting Marrakech. Beautifully decorated and situated in a historic building, it was the perfect setting to have one of our first meals in the city. The food was delicious and the service was great. We'd definitely come back again.

We had a beautiful meal here. The setting is spectacular, tucked away behind unassuming doors as are so many gems of architecture and design in the Marrakech medina. The food and service complement the ambiance. Don't miss an after-dinner pot of mint tea on the rooftop. Highly recommended.

I booked this restaurant as part of my 30th birthday celebrations. Although difficult to get to (we were fortunately guided by our hotel staff) once we arrived we were nicely greeted by front of house and escorted to our table which was in the middle of the most serene courtyard. The low lighting, beautifully ruined walls and intimate table setting... More

We had dinner there in the first night in Marrakech. It is a really treasure hided in one of the street nearby jemea el fna. The food was tasty and the service was also good. The terrace is very charming and romantic. Most importantly the staff is very trustworthy because I left my iPhone there and when I went back... More

Loved the ambience which is a time capsule in its own right . We loved the meatball kofte and chicken with ginger tagine. The host was lovely and made us feel at home . Mary was very nice towards our kids and the food was served with a lot of love . Absolutely worth a visit and don't forget to... More

After reading about it a hotel guidebook (in which it was described as one of the top ten places to eat in Marrakech), my boyfriend and I tried our luck without a reservation. It was a lovely walk through the souks and just a minute or two down a side street. It was not marked well, but easy to find... More

We were recently in Marrakech and looking to have a good lunch in a quiet place away from the noise and bustle of the medina. In Dar Cherifa we were not disappointed. From the moment you open that small door in the wall you are in a different world. The atrium where you eat is beautiful with a small pool... More

The food at Dar Cherifa was delicious. The service was excellent. All of the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The decor was phenomenal as well. It's tucked back in an alley, but not very hard to find as long as you have a map. After dinner, take a walk upstairs to view the city from their terrace for some... More

Description
Situated in the very heart of the souks, this building is a hidden secret, only found by the discerning and curious visitor, where history is recorded in the delicate tracery of the stucco and skilfully carved wood. In the year 2000 , Marrakech Riads, a leading player in the restoration of the riads of Marrakech, brought Dar Cherifa back to life, and simultaneously unveiled a hidden treasure of the medina, the refined decor of this building recalling that of the Medersa Ben Youssef, jewel of the Saadian era (16th century) and one of the finest monuments of Marrakech. Renovated with the greatest care and attention to detail, with the participation of renowned craftsmen so as to maintain its authenticity and splendour, Dar Cherifa welcomes all visitors eager to meet new and interesting people. It is a real cultural venue, hosting regular exhibitions, workshops, concerts and events. This inimitable space draws one into a meditative state of mind and heart. Everyone fortunate enough to visit this building says that they breathe an atmosphere of peace and serenity the minute they cross the threshold. The mention of Moroccan culture immediately implies Moroccan cuisine, and what more beguiling setting than this pure and refined interior for sampling a cuisine abounding in cultural exchange; a subtle blend of sweet and sour, the inheritance of Berber, Jewish and Arab-Andalucian influences. Enjoy!
