We enjoyed a wonderful lunch after our visit to Haleakala National Park I ordered the Crab and Rock Shrimp Cake which was delicious! It was light and I could see and taste the pieces of crab and shrimp!! It was served with a honey sesame...slaw & a mango remoulade that were to die for yummy! My husband had the BBQ Pork sandwich made with roasted Kailua Pork. That came with a homemade pickled jalapeño slaw. Great flavors blended perfectly!! A fantastic 5 star lunch!!More

It was weird how 'not-good' the food was?? So strange that this place was rated so high. I wondered if they had a different chef/lost theirs? They were very friendly and accommodating; however, the food was simply not good. When I explained this to our...friendly waiter, he just smiled and then returned with a to-go container. I never complain about a dish, but I felt the need to let them know that it was definitely lacking, especially when the waiter RAVED about the amberjack fish special. He also raved about the watermelon salad, which was not great either. Basically flavorless. I hate to say it but I just don't think this place is worth the money or the drive out. Go to Mama's Fishhouse. Go to Lahaina Grill. Go to Mala. Sorry guys, but you need to step it up a notch.More

Happened open the restaurant which hasn’t been a store in over three decades. Well laid out with easy parking. Neat local ambience. The food was tasty as well as the hard and soft drinks (mocktail). Good variety to chose from. Can’t say we were happy...with an $18 kids pasta with butter (small) even though it comes with (a small) dessert- but not a beverage. No bread avail unless you want to pay per piece of focaccia. Staff are friendly, efficient and know there way around the menu. A couple of fun tourist destinations are right across the street as well.More

This was high on our list to visit- one of my sisters favorites. We drove out in the middle of no where to try it. The building is very charming and loved the decor. There were 4 of us- all ordered different things - The...Crab pizza was a hit!- the 2nd item told was a must have Macadamia Nut Crusted Fresh Catch- again it was very good-however not much there for $36. I had the Upcountry Farm Salad and was very happy with my choice. We had cocktails- over priced for what you got. We also had 2 desserts Hali’imaile Pineapple Upside-Down Cake, was tasty and the 2nd was Love in a Jar- for $12 totally underwhelmed and over priced. Lunch for 4 was approx $200More

We were on island in March and stumbled upon this lovely restaurant while driving around upcountry. It was wonderful then, but even better this time. We didn't have a reservation, but came in right at 11 when they open for lunch and were able to...be seated. The duck bao buns were out of this world. As was the fish tacos and poke bowl. Teen kids were happy with their selections as well.More

An excellent meal with wonderful service and delicious food. The menu has been pared down from pre-COVID times, and seems to have been further pared down from the menu posted on the website. Nevertheless, the food was amazing. The watermelon salad, the onion soup, and...the pineapple upsidedown cake cannot be missed. The tai mai (yes, tai mai and not mai tai) was the best on the island.More

This place was recommended to me by two friends. Its also pretty far away from the resorts. I got the macadamia nut crusted fish. It was terrible. It came with what I thought was a slaw whic was basically big chunks of pineapple. The children's...menu is $18 of you get a cookie with a scoop of ice cream! I live in NYC I am use to paying a lot for food. That was ridiculous and insulting. We shared the tomatoes and burrata - nothing special. My husband got the Short Ribs - blah. The food tasted like large banquet style meals which makes sense given the background. I believe maybe once this was a great spot to eat now it just trades on its reputation. DO NOT GO. It really is not special, expensive and farMore

We ate at the Hali'imaile General Store mid-week during our recent vacation. We knew how to find the restaurant because it's located conveniently across the street from the Maul Gold pineapple tour/tasting rooms. For parking, the overflow lot is directly across the street and easily...accessible. We had reservations for the outdoor porch, which seats approximately three couples. Be aware that the style is high top bar stools, and you are eating on a more narrow plank. We started with drink service and moved on to the Maui onion soup (equivalent of French onion soup) and the barbecue rib entree with French fries and an Asian-style slaw. The ribs were tender, and the French fries crisp. For dessert, we finished off our meal with the signature pineapple upside down cake (we declined the vanilla ice cream). The restaurant offers coffee service, but there's no cappuccino available. The restaurant interior is charming, and the bar is in the front room. There are a few items of merchandise available for souvenirs (you can also order online). The unisex restrooms are clean. I would definitely eat here again and try other menu items. I would also give the interior dining a try!More

We drove out to the Hali’imaile General Store for a change of scenery and to try something different. The layout is just as you’d expect from a general store converted into a restaurant, very open an full of character. The seating arrangements are slightly odd...so you may end up alone in the very back of the restaurant even though they have seats with a few at the front, the lady that seated us mentioned something about spreading people out, seemed odd. The lunch menu is limited but has something for everyone, the fact that they had been closed for many a month did show. We ordered drinks and food long before others arrived but for unknown reasons we got served almost 10 minutes after a 5able of 8 who arrived about 15 minutes after us, again we put it down to being slightly rusty. My daughter had the catch of the day, my wife had the Copped Chinese Chicken Salad and I had the HGS fish tacos (2). The food was nicely prepared and other than the Tacos the portions were very generous. I think once they’ve been up and running again for a bit longer they should get back in the groove.More

We enjoyed our visit to this restaurant, it was very COVID serious, the restaurant is very pretty and the food was very good. We had the crab pizza which was a flatbread with crab dip on top…quite rich, a very tasty salad and delicious duck...buns (don't miss) for appetizers, and short ribs, bbq ribs and the seafood curry dish for mains. The seafood curry was quite rich. They were very accommodating to our toddler but $18 for a kids meal of pasta and cheese and ice cream is quite pricey. We would recommend this restaurant.More

Favorite breakfast spot is the Sunrise café in Lahaina, but we also enjoy Slappy cakes in Kaanapali. We rarely plan lunch so it generally happens where we are, but we had lunch at the Hali'imaile general store last time, and... More
