We wanted ice, but the selection was poor. We decided to go to the main store in Arroyo Grande. The ice cream selections were very limited, and the help just stares as we are looking at the flavors. We just left, and bought the ice cream in Arroyo Grande instead of Avila.

Mint chocolate and pistachio were our favorites. Very generous scoops, even the child's scoop looks big.

I thought I should try Doc Burnsteins. But $5 for one scoop? Sorry. Outrageous and not worth the price. Just ok. I thought it must be great so I paid the price. Kind of mediocre I would say.

Can't come to Avila without stopping at Hula Hut. The owner and staff are so friendly...treat you like family. One of the few Doc Burnsteins ice cream stops outside the 5 cities area. White chocolate merlot is a standard and good anytime of the day! Hidden gem for breakfast and lunch. Can always find something to buy for myself or... More

I'd gone here a few times for the pass few years. I noticed today, there was more guys working than girls (like before). They had a better performance and was a lot nicer than the female workers. I'm not sure if me, being a girl and being served by guys.... but I enjoyed it. Even my sons noticed that the... More

Rich & creamy! Pecan Praline and Motor Oil were a great combination. My son had cookie d'ough. No complaints from either one of us.

a goldmine for old Doc, but good ice cream for us. mixed in a gift type shop that sells sandwiches, tough to order, and figure out. save your money and visit them in AG and avoid the crowds

Cute place with lots of souvenir merchandise and great ice cream. We went there a couple of times while visiting Pismo Beach.

They have a great variety of sweets perfect for an afternoon treat after the beach. The ice cream is delicious. I've tried the fudge before and it's pretty yummy. The coffee was good too.

We love the ice cream! We never miss the opportunity to get our daily scoop when on vacation at Avila Beach. The kids enjoy the birthday cake flavor with the many real bits of cake sprinkles. I enjoy the Elvis banana flavored ice cream with ribbons of real peanut butter. We lounge on the cafe couch whenever available to enjoy... More
