I love this place, and want to return soon. The food was excellent. I ordered a Bebele beer which is native to Ethiopia, and loved it. I had the Lalibela Kitfo which was superb, and my buddy had the Lalibela Tibs, which was also mighty tasty. The spices are extraordinary, and flavors are exquisite.

I don't get the opportunity to enjoy Ethiopian cuisine often. You have to understand Ethiopian culture presentation to enjoy the food. I've read some of the reviews on this site. The server was sweet and helpful and happily provided a glass of Ethiopian honey wine w our combination dish of meat and veggies. It's not as trendy as other restaurants... More

Wonderful experience. Have been there twice. I lived in Yemen and loved Ethiopian sour bread and food. This is very authentic and brings back fantastic memories. My son lives down the street and he eats there often. Fabulous. People are friendly and helpful.

Decided to try this out while walking. What a great place! The food is so authentic and so yum. I loved the beef, and my wife loved the chicken. And oh, do order the Ethiopian beer which goes so well with the food. Highly recommended.

This was my second time at Lalibela. The first time was at the recommendation of and with an Ethiopian friend. Lalibela is low-key and fairly simple, when compared to the other Ethiopian restaurants in Adams Morgan. I like Lalibela because it's inexpensive and consistently good. That said, if you are looking to impress your guest(s), this place may not be... More

This restaurant has excellent authentic Ethiopian cuisine. It really doesn't matter what you order, every item is cooked with care and tastes fantastic. The steak is outstanding, the fish comes whole, pasta is very flavorful and comes with your choice of meat and sauce. and the delicious vegetables can convince carnivores make an exception. However all items can be customized... More

We were in DC visiting relatives, 3 adults and four children, and wanted to get a reasonably priced lunch that would let the children expand their tastes and give the adults something we would enjoy. This place was great-- small and not fancy, looks like a local dive from the outside. They easily found a place for all seven of... More

One night we decided to go for Ethiopian meal. Upon enquiry from the local taxi drivers we referred to lalibella. I am generally sceptical of such referrals but did go there. The Ambiance was not posh but nice and cozy. It was reassuring to see many locals there. There was a nice well-stocked bar and I was able to get... More

We love Ethiopian food and this was convenient to our B and B (Chester Arthur House). Service was prompt and friendly and our veg platter yummy.

We'd never tried Ethiopian food before, but our meal at Lalibela definitely won't be our first and only. We had the vegetarian selection, which gave plenty of variety and excellent flavours. The staff were friendly and efficient and the terrace is a great place to eat. The cab we took back to our hotel happened to be driven by an... More
