We had lunch in the new glassed in terrace of Wagshal's. The sandwiches were as good as usual. The change for the better was the selection of inexpensive wines to accompany the meal. The noise level at 12:30 was high. By 1:30 PM, the sunroom was quiet. Service was excellent.

Not bad, but not great either. We aware in the sit down part of the deli. Be clear, it is not the menu you see online - much slimmer menu. The wait staff didn't know the ingredients. Not minute questions, but simple ones like "does the quiche have meat in it?" Food was adequate, not great. In net, ok place,... More

Chopped liver, whitefish, nova lox, cream cheese, bagels, gefilte fish, tongue, chicken soup and just about every cold cut imaginable, great pickles, some nice hot dishes. When I was growing up in DC, we had Wagshal's brunch on most Sundays after getting home from church. Just excellent and run by Mom and Pop Wagshall, complete with personally signed photos of national... More

Sandwiches are great, they make most of their corned beef / pastrami etc. in-house. This place is highly recommended for quick lunch. They offer sit down service at the back of the store.

This review is primarily about Wasgshal's Market, next door to the deli. I have been shopping at the Spring Valley Wagshal's for years. Pam Ginsburg, who runs the meat and fish, is a genius. Super high quality control governing fish that is so fresh, it arrives in the case within 24 hours of being caught (as opposed to sitting in... More

I have been going to this Wagshals location for many years. They recently expanded into the space next to them which really helped. This "out of the way" mini shopping center is great for those that live nearby but also for those that use Massachusetts Ave as a commuter route to Bethesda and Chevy Chase. They pretty much have everything... More

New restaurant but some v old school ideas. Ordered poached eggs and bacon - came out luke warm/cold. Sent it back. Round two: same thing - cold eggs, luke warm bacon (which miraculously materialised three minutes later). The eggs and bacon were clearly pre-made and just barely warned through. The hapless waiter was left shrugging and telling us he'd "speak... More

The newly expanded Wagshal's Deli has the same great deli meats and sandwiches and expanded selections of cheeses, breads and other offerings. It has a small restaurant as part of the expansion. A barbecue place has been added in the alley. The gem of it all is Wagshal's Market and Pam the Butcher. She is DC's top butcher and purveyor... More

The restaurant part of the deli is only about 8 tables in the back facing Yuma St. There were only about 6-7 sandwiches/burgers and a few salads/soups, but they arrived falling of the edge of the plate. And were very good. An interesting side- pickled yellow tomatoes- tasty, and bonus points for originality. Service was so-so. I'm betting students from... More

The four of us were not famished but we were in town to look at schools and knew we would get hungry mid way through. We were a little hungry but not famished so Consequently we split a Reuben and a brisket. Sandwiches were nice size and came with pickles and sweet potato chips. We also tasted several desserts including... More
