Ate here with my elementary-age son and he loved it. Especially the made-at-your-table guacamole. He ate almost the whole bowl himself. If you ask, and your kid enjoys this type of thing, they will let your child help make the guac. The service was friendly and attentive. We were not rushed and had a lovely and relaxing pre-game dinner. Very... More

Passed by many times, and opted to try Rosa Mexicano DC on a weekday evening in January. Our reservation was honored promptly, and we were seated by the window--the better to watch fans streaming to the Verizon Center! Décor is bright and modern, but quite comfortable. Service was great, pleasant and efficient, and our server was careful to honor our... More

Very delicious mexican food with very fresh ingredients. Prompt service. They tend to push their signature guacamole on you, but you don't have to get it in order to have an enjoyable meal.

First visit to the downtown D.C. location, went on NY's Eve. Everything about the early-evening visit was perfect. The valet was professional, courteous, and efficient. The hostess was friendly and prompt. Service was prompt, friendly, and efficient. The fixed-price, 4-course menu was fantastic. The table-made guacamole was amazing as always, the empanadas appetizer was great - and the skirt steak... More

Came for a late breakfast and had the huevos rancheros (delish and bug portions) and a big bowl of guacamole served with tortilla chips. Food was fabulous and probably the best guac i ever had. My husband concurred and we decided we will always eat there when in DC which is often.

Ate here last night prior to catching a Wizards game... service was horrible, skirt steak was tough and they never brought a proper knife, made me saw it with a butter knife. Overpriced for the quality of food!

I've been to Rosa Mexicano twice, this time with my wife for lunch. It's at the high end of Americanized end of Mexican food. I can recommend the tres enchiladas, and my wife very much liked the fish tacos. The pomegranate equivalent of a Margarita is delicious. Service was good, although it's a busy, boisterous place. I work near Rosa... More

I was last here in Dec 2013 and had dinner here again this week. My meal was terrific, and the signature pomegranate margaritas are as usual wonderful. Service was very attentive and efficient, and the room was not very noisy at 6:30 on a Sunday evening (though it was fairly busy). I'll come here again on my next trip to... More

Rosa Mexicano was recommended by a friend but it was disappointing. The server, once he knew we were waiting for my husband to join us before ordering food, seemed to neglect us. He told me I could not order the pitcher of sangria because happy hour was over but it is part of the regular menu. He should have known.... More

Description
Just west of our nation's Capitol, Rosa Mexicano Penn Quarter location is situated in the exceptionally restored 1924 Hecht’s building across from the Verizon Center. As the first Rosa Mexicano to open outside of New York City in December 2003, this D.C. location remains true to its roots by delivering authentic Mexican cuisine in a stylish, festive atmosphere. The interior features eye-catching details that include 14-foot wraparound windows, a spacious bar and lounge area, and a tequila bar offering a wide range of premium selections and margaritas. Traditional folk crafts have also been incorporated throughout the restaurant, most notably in a dramatic series of illuminated pilasters featuring festive Mexican masks mounted on the wall. It’s a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds.
