Paul is a cafe/restaurant chain, I've seen it in Belgium and Portugal before. The bread and the pastries are really good - especially in contrast to American breakfast.

I have to be fair and say we went on a Saturday (which means mostly empty streets in downtown DC). I found the food good, but nothing special. Prices were good and the outdoor patio drew us to it. Tables outside are literally falling apart and very wobbly (we weren't the only ones struggling). Benefit of the doubt...maybe it's end... More

Coffee selection was incredibly limited based on the menu and the pumpkin spice lattes we ordered were lukewarm, not exactly good for a brisk morning. Service was also inattentive, using ceramic mugs when I told them I wanted my order to go. All in all a poor experience.

Group of Girl Scouts trip. The bread was tougher than they were used to and the ingredients more high end, but the parents LOVED it. The sandwiches were fantastic. The soup was amazing. The desserts were heavenly. The price was right. A bit of Europe in DC. The staff was great. Helped with recommendations and followed up to see how... More

Paul bakery use to be an average bakery. If you're hungry and there is absolutely nothing else then try Paul. The food is very low quality. Sandwiches looks old sort of like airport sandwich shops in United States. The cleanness is very average. If you want to eat a decent cheap food there are so many other places you can... More

We've always loved the Paul locations in Paris and were ecstatic to find branches in D.C. We ate at two different ones, and at both the pastries were terrific--especially the croissants, which set the standard. The house-made jams were excellent as well. I loved my café au lait, although it didn't come in a proper bowl, and my husband was... More

We needed to kill some time before the museums opened, and stopped in at Paul's for some coffee and quiche. Prices were much higher than I expected, but once we received our generous slice of Quiche Lorraine with a generous salad, I took back my resentful feelings. The coffee was excellent, as was the quiche and salad. A nice place... More

Great place to get a morning coffee & pastry. Stumbled upon this spot our 1st day in DC. Enjoyed our coffee & goodie while we oriented ourselves for the day. At the end of the day picked up a few pastries for the Metro ride home.

From the location, the ambiance, the quality of food you will not be disappointed. The blueberry tart and the turkey sandwich are a taste explosion in your mouth. I would talk to this from the Willard twice daily while in DC. If you are interested in fine French pastries and baguettes, do not miss this stop. I sat outside in... More

If you are looking for true French bakery, this is the place. We didn't get any regular food; we went straight for the desserts. Macaroons, tarts, croissants, etc. No matter what we tried, they were all good. We went back twice while in DC.
