We arrived as they were unlocking the doors on a Sunday morning. They had a TV scrolling through special menu items as we walked through the door, so I decided to order one of them -- the eggs Florentine -- I was informed the did not have the spinach so I ordered eggs Benedict instead. It was the saddest looking... More

No visit to France in complete without frequent visits to Paul - especially in Paris, where they seem to be on almost every block. Now they are here in the US as well. The one on Pennsylvania Avenue is spacious, warm and inviting. Their croissants and other pastries are simply perfect. Paul offers a superb refuge for refreshment in a... More

I make the distinction in the headline because one of the friends traveling with us was expecting a coffee shop that served pastry and bread and such. No. And no again. This is styled after the shops of Paris with it selections of flaky croissants, authentic macarons (not coconut macaroons, by the way). It happens to serve coffee. Ask a... More

If you've visited Paris, you've surely had a delicious baguette or croissant or cup of cafe at Paul. What a treat to find it in DC! We dined at both the Penn Ave shops. Sandwiches, pastries, soups...all were delicious! And nice, comfortable and clean ambiance, as well.

Our concierge recommended Paul for brunch and we were thrilled with it. Paul is a fast casual dining option - meaning you order at a counter and your food is either given to you there or prepared and brought to your table. My daughters had chocolate croissants and macarons - both were excellent. I had a croque monsieur and other... More

Simply the best French style bakery I found in a long time. Macaroons are luscious. Tart was great. Love it.

Jam 19,2017 during preparation for inauguration we stopped in for a pastry and coffee. I had the elephant ear and it was crispy and yet not dry and the perfect sweetness! My DH had the almond chocolate croissant and it was creamy and sweet. Both pastries were the best of kind we have ever enjoyed. The the regular coffee was... More

Stopped in early on a Sunday morning to grab food for a long train ride. Both gals behind the counter were funny and kind and helpful. $25 worth of pastries and sandwiches fed two of us all the way back to NC, happily.

Friendly staff, superb coffee and omelettes - felt like we'd been on a little side trip to Paris as the cafe has a very "euro feel" to it.

Artisan bread sandwiches and French pastry dessert described this place for me. Right across the street from the National Archives, so expect it to be a bit pricey. Great bred though, with good sandwiches. Free Wi-Fi is nice. Interesting interior. Quiet enough to talk if you want. I thought the breads were the best thing about it, really good with... More
