Fine dining at its best in a relaxed setting.I would recommend the scallops, beef and creme brûlée. A must if visiting Akaora and I would book ahead as the restaurant is small.

A mid week visit to this tiny bistro, we were told by the chatty chef that we were brave not having a reservation, which at the time seamed odd as it was nearly empty, how wrong we were, within 15 minutes the place was packed,...More

A wonderful dining experience! Loved the child-free atmosphere and it was the perfect environment for a dinner and drink with extended family. The food was so gourmet, the selection of wine was to my taste. I'll note that the food was a bit pricey because...More

We had selected this restaurant for our first dinner in New Zealand. After many hours in the airplane, we were looking forward to having dinner in a restaurant... For the first time in our life, the chief refuse us because child is not authorised to...More

Hi Ranygentes Thank you for taking the time to review the little bistro, aka little place for adults. Out of respect for other dinners we dont except reservations with children under the age of 10 years. Your arrogance in demanding to speak to the owner,...More

The little bistro is tiny inside so you do need to book in advance to get ensure you get a table. It is well worth the effort as all aspects of the menu are an outstanding example of local meat and produce lovingly prepared and...More

Hi teddybear2009 Thank you for taking the time to review our little bistro, again. Usually when reviews write "we will never return" we dont expect them to return. Anyway, we look forward to disapointing you again next Easter. Regards Richard

The mains would have benefited from some veg; there weren't even and sides on offer on the menu. My sole had a huge serving of average roasted potatoes but no other veg. Bit disappointed after the reviews I'd read. Having said that, the tomato soup...More

Read all the reviews and was even recommended by our hotel however we didn't think it deserved the No.1 rating it has. Scallops were under-cooked (but maybe that's how the french prefer them), venison had no flavour and was chewy, lamb rack had not been...More
