We went to the sporting chance on a Thursday evening after being unable to get in and make use of the Eat our to help out due to them being fully booked. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They also set up a brilliant system where you could let them know your order ahead of time which limits time you spend in the public area during the current COVID-19 situation. The food was exceptional value for money and better than any of the other local pubs that we had tried. I truly can’t recommend this establishment enough.

Down on holiday for the week and tried the pub as local to where we staying. The quality of the food was excellent. As we are pescatarian we sometimes find pub food to be a bit of a challenge but had some good choices to go with and we were both very happy with what we selected. The salmon and roasted vegetable was full of flavour and spot on portion-wise. The chick pea and sweet potato curry came with half and half rice and chips but he pub was more than happy to change to rice only. Excellent portion and again, really tasty. Faultless service and a nice atmosphere set off with a soft jazz soundtrack. Would definitely recommend.

Went here tonight for the first time, absolutely brilliant. The waitress who looked after us was perfect, attentive and friendly, the food was superb, probably the best meal we've had in Wales. Steak was cooked to perfection, lasagne was great, starter was really good. The other thing which is a big plus point, everything was served piping hot on hot plates, many places nowadays don't serve on hot plates so your food is either cold when served or cold halfway through, our meals stayed hot while we ate them.
The decor is really nice too with relaxing guitar music at just the right volume.
We couldn't fault anything.

Welcomed by friendly staff and shown to an immaculately dressed restaurant which is compliant to social distancing.
Everything on the menu sounded delicious and on seeing dishes being served to others we knew already we had to come back.
Our drinks arrived quickly and so did the food. The presentation was beautiful and could see that everything was prepared with love. The food was all homemade and cooked perfectly. The desserts also all homemade went down a treat.
There was a great atmosphere and we really did feel very well taken care of.

Make an effort to come off the A477 bypass road and take the old road into Red Roses. By chance you will come upon The Sporting Chance! Its situated on the crossroads in Red Roses. An upmarket pub and restaurant, spotlessly clean and twirky decor. We arrived too late for lunch, but the lovely owners offered us a selection of food they were able to provide. We opted for a delicious creamy mushroom and garlic chicken with PROPER chips. It was delicious. There were little touches, like asking us to take a seat on the settee until the food was ready. When we were asked to come to our table, the owner came with a tray and carried our drinks to the table on the tray. Small things, but made a difference. The owner was chatty, interesting, and interested in us. The food was amazing, the decor and ambiance was spot on! All in all a delightful pub. Make an effort and visit, we did and it was definitely worth that effort.

We visited the Sporting Chance on the recommendation of the guest house we were staying at locally and were so delighted with the quality of the meal we had that we immediately rebooked for the following evening.
We received such a warm welcome from the owners and felt truly comfortable.
I highly recommend a visit for a very good meal in a friendly comfortable place. Try the steak it was lovely! Chips excellent too.

Oh this is so lovely to read, and you saw the place in action under two very differing circumstances. Totally bonkers flat out and then very calm and chilled haha. We really do try our best to not just provide a lovely meal but focus on the whole experience from start to finish.
We are so grateful to Gareth and Holly for their continued support too.

We arrived hungry and without booking, as we were 2 hours early for our holiday cottage, after a 6hr drive from Yorkshire, we were made to feel very welcome and Chloe managed to fit us in even though they were very busy, all the staff were following the Covid social distancing rules impeccably and we all felt relaxed and safe at all times.
I had a lovely beef lasagne with gorgeous homemade chips which I would recommend highly, my wife had scampi and chips and my 20yr old kids had chicken strips and chips. We didn't have time for a dessert that day as we wanted to book in at our cottage, but thought we would visit again later during our holiday.
We booked again for the Thursday night, this time I had the Chilli and Rice, My wife and one of the girls had the Beef Lasagne at my recommendation, my other daughter had a Sweet potato and chickpea curry, and my son had the Sporting chance homemade burger. We also had a side of Garlic Bread with Cheese. Everything was great again and to be honest I was highly jealous of my sons burger as it was a work of art! (Next time we're in South Wales I'll be back for one of those).
We also had time for dessert this time so we had a selection of Chocolate Fudge cake with Ice Cream and Chocolate Cheesecake with Ice Cream all of which were delicious.
I really can't recommend The Sporting Chance highly enough!

Well we weren't expecting that when we by chance called last minute at the sporting chance!! The food was exceptionally good and the presentation was amazing. When you look at the online menu it looks quite dated so when the food arrives at the table looking like it come from a high value restaurant you dont expect it. We had mains and pudding and both were so tasty. The staff were really friendly and polite. Amazing value. Would defo go back.

Found this place whilst exploring the local area, we didn't have a reservation so we had to wait a while for our food but it was worth the wait. The honey glazed salmon and stir fried vegetables was not just sublimely tasty but immaculately presented. We enjoyed it so much we came back the next day for Sunday lunch where there was so much lovely food it was staggering, even managed to make mashed swede taste good. It was also incredibly cheap. Zoe and her staff were welcoming and attentive. And we were able to sit in the bar with the dog. So all round 5 stars.

This place is so deceiving from the outside. My goodness, it was like a Tardis.
Unfortunately we only managed to discover it on the last evening of our holiday.
From the moment you walk in, you felt a warm inviting surrounding. The decor is so individual and pleasing which added to make it feel cosy and relaxing.
We were greeted at the bar by a charming lady who, along with other members of staff, were genuinely only interested in providing the best possible service. Their sincere pleasant attitude toward the customer, in making sure we were totally satisfied with our order, was more than you would expect.
So now to the food itself. Two of our party had the Salmon, they top rated their choice and it was very well presented. Next was the Burger, I called it the Eiffel Tower Burger, another top choice. Myself, I was presented with the 12oz Sirloin, 'well done' I like it that way, gorgeous. Pud's well, that nicely rounded off our night. Well done to everyone at the Sporting Chance for ensuring that we had a most enjoyable evening. The only downfall, is that we unfortunately live 170 miles away.

Oh this review really did bring a tear to my eye and a smile to my face. We are very proud of our amazing staff and they really do work so well with us and as a team.

Another great meal last night here, the staff are welcoming and friendly greeting you with a smile and how are you. The menu has a good variety of options to suit most people and is all cooked fresh to order which makes it easy to accommodate dietary requirements and adapt to peoples preferences of taste. We had mozzarella sticks to start which were amazing followed by a steak which was really tender and cooked perfectly, we also had lasagne which arrived hot and was delicious. They have good choice of puddings too which is always a winner. This was our second visit to Chloe and her team and we were not disappointed highly recommended- they get busy so booking is essential

Had a really great meal at the Sporting Chance. The sirloin steak was very tender and cooked to perfection. My wife had the fillet strips which were just as good. The staff and management were really attentive. Great to see people trying so hard in these difficult times to provide great service.

Sorry for the delay in replying, it’s been bonkers haha.
Your review has reduced me to tears, we really are doing our best and taking the whole situation very seriously re everyone’s health and safety and the chef, my husband has gone above and beyond over lockdown to really fine tune certain aspects of the cooking and ingredients. It’s an emotional time with such beautiful feedback and we are so so proud of our staff, they are definitely overworked and luckily carry the same pride as us in their work and we are blessed.
Thank you for taking the time to send such kind words, chef I’d loving them new fillet strips meal and we are also fortunate to have a great butcher, Joss griffiths in narberth.

Loverly Sunday dinner, 2 courses for £20, We couldn't fault the food it was full of flavour. The ladies serving us made sure we had everything we needed even with our dog. The upside down cake was also amazing. Thank you for a beautiful dinner on easter sunday x

As soon as you walk through the door, you’re met with a welcoming environment and friendly staff.
We learnt that a lot of the decorations and fixtures were hand made. It’s a very unassuming place from the outside, however, on the inside it is exceptional.
The food also matches attention to detail
And quality of the decorations!
There was a clear Moroccan theme to some of the dishes. My partner had amazing fish cakes, with humus, salad and couscous! I had the mushrooms on bread. Both were absolutely phenomenal!
The mains were just as tasty!
All in all, a great place to eat and relax!

With friends at home , fancied a Sunday roast without the need to go out . Made contact with this business for the very first time and order was placed with friendly lady for collection .
Sunday roast was served with all the usual vegetables , roast potatoes , cauliflower cheese , stuffing . Absolutely beautiful!
As I’ve said above I’ve never visited before , but for sure will be back for a meal & drinks !
