Finding this place was a culinary revelation for us. A beautiful romantic location on the hills of Pécs, perfect for a great wine dinner.
In details: Biased review coming here just so you know. I've been a waiter/bartender for a few years in the USA/UK/Hungary so when it comes to a romantic dinner, I'm usually looking for something special. Now this is the kind of rare place I usually look for - full of passion and wholehearted hospitality! In every city you can find a hundred places where they can serve your usual overcooked oversalted burger/steak&fries fairly quickly with a smile, and you can go keep having your jack'n cokes to the night.
This is not that kind of place.
First you sit down at this beautiful terrace above Pécs, in the embrace of the vineyards, next to the castle ruins. Then this guy who owns the place (!) comes forward to have one or two good words with you. You don't have the worlds largest menu, but you have top quality fish, beef, pork made with meticulous mastery. I've seen some people complain about longer service times. Bro. I've seen how 5 star hotel sous-chefs work on the food "production line" to get your "fast service". Here your meal
is made with ten times more care and expertise. Then you get LOCAL wines with your food. And I don't mean local like "wine of Pécs that you can buy in Tesco's" kind of local. I mean "from the local cellars that you can't get anywhere" local. Do you know how rare that is?! I recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a fine meal and good atmosphere, and even better wines. And seriously guys, try the merlot.

Cozy restaurant on the hill above Pécs. Exceptional food, brought to us by the assertive and friendly owner, even invited us to a digestive drink at the end. Pasta have been cooked in white wine, bringing new dimension to its simplicity, and topped with the perfectly grilled, sliced sirloin - it just melted in your mouth. The bathroom was spotless, the service was great. Don’t miss this, guys, when you’re planning your visit to Pécs. Highly recommend!

We walked up to the wine house for this excellent meal and it was well worth it! Wonderful view, polite and attentive service, an exeptional setting! We had all different main courses with delicious salads, regional wine and cottage cheese dumplings (a must!). Talked to the owner who was a great host, we had really interesting discussion. Recommend it to everyone!

In my opinion, the restaurant is overpriced, and there is not a large selection of dishes. It's nothing special inside, it's okay, it has a couple of tables and it's not very clean. We ordered a glass of wine, the waitress brought us double in the glass, without notifying us. We found out when we paid the bill. There really are better restaurants in Pecs.

Food is overpriced. We ordered two glasses od wine which they charged as four, explaining that the priče in the wine card was for 1 dcl of wine in the glass and we got 2 dcl. We didn't ask for that. There are much better restaurants in the city center.

I went back to Tuke winehouse with a memory of perfectly grilled and perfectly seasoned fish. And I was not disappointed! The ambience, the service and most of all the grilled fish was excellent.
The fish is a chapter in it self! I’ve eaten “grilled fish” in many restaurants... often it’s just baked in the oven, or steamed or even worse fried. Tukes pisztrang is grilled for real. And it tastes marvellous. The skin is crispy and full of taste, the meat is tender and perfect. And accomplished with a neutral salad its perfect. The chosen vine married well with the fish.
On top of that i had a cottage cheese ball with poppyseeds as a dessert, served with blueberry jam and a glass of red kadarka it was the grand finale of a really good dinner!
It’s not easy to find, but for me it’s definitely the beat restaurant in Pecs!

It's not the first time I've eaten here and I've never been disappointed. The food is delicious, the service is polite and helpful. We always had new dishes at the waiter's recommend and our glasses were never empty. 😄
From the dessert, the tùrògombòc is the best.
Highly recommended!

I come back to this restaurant every time I visit Pecs.
I really do not get those people who write bad things about this restaurant. (Probably they are from a different planet)
Anyway, as usual our meal was perfect from soup through main course and of course the dessert. This time we did not have any wine, which is a shame I know, but I had to drive.
The owner really keeps an eye and a big heart on this place, which you can really observe. Last time we were here he also had a chat with us, but this time he was busy doing some negotiation quietly at a side table, but still he was getting time to time up and helping to sort things out.

We tasted great food and wine while enjoying a beautiful view.
I had 12 hours smoked ribs that was treated with a chilli and honey dressing, then finished on the charcoal grill. It was super tasty and tender.
The food was of the highest quality but what stood out even more was the service.
The owner, Joseph literally painted food pictures with his words while describing the daily specials.
He has not only great gastronomical knowledge but he’s a life long wine expert too and he trains his team accordingly, it seems.
Listening to him talking about food and wine is an experience In itself.
I don’t rave about places often but this one gets too marks in food, wine, service and location!

Great mountaintop atmosphere for lunch and dinner. The host Jozsef (a vintner) knows his vines and his chef grills over a woodburning fire great food. We had a great afternoon taking in the view a nd having great food.

Spectacular lunch with very friendly attention. The owner speaks good english and is a wine expert (which is a relativey common quality in the Pécs region among restaurant owners).
The food was remarkably well prepared, considering that meat was grilled on coal. The wines we tasted were also perfect matches to the meal.
Don't be affraid going up the hill: you won't regret it!!! You'll get a good meal and a great view.

The food is mainly charcoal grilled and excellently cooked, Regular small menu with occasional specials. Good wines, but expensive to drink by the glass: they are priced as single dl, but served as double. Cheaper to buy by the bottle. Do try the potent but smooth ultra-fine palinka, distilled by the proprietor. There are a few tables indoors, but most are outside, giving fine views over Pecs and surrounding ancient monuments. You will need to book in high season.

We would like to recommend this restaurant. The food was excellent and we received very good service. We visited in November so we ate inside. We’re going to come back in the spring and summer, when we can sit outside; the view is absolutely lovely.

A perfect wine-tasting dinner experience. The food was wonderful, the perfect atmosphere and fantastic personal service with Josef. The view on the patio is outstanding with the personal touch on the experience. We will be adding this to our next visits for sure. Do Not Miss!
