Nice place with poor service. It took 20 mins to get 2 bottles of beer though the place was almost empty.

What a gem. Great food, drinks and service. The staff couldn't do more to make you feel welcome. Not many places left like this in Budapest so visit in case it disappears !

This little gem was so good that we made several visits during our stay in Budapest for lunch and dinner. The food is traditional, very tasty and reasonably priced. The servers are lovely and could not be more helpful or friendly. Would definitely recommend.

This place was close to where we were staying. Dropped in for goulash and beer, both very good and good prices to boot. Nice staff, good crowd.

Have been wanting to try this place for a while now and finally had an excuse to do so today. We both chose a lunch special. The specials are very reasonably-priced for 2 and 3 course meals. The portions are fine if you're ordering several courses. Service was fast and friendly. The interiors are really cool and make use of... More

The food was very good with side bread and in a perfect portion size. The service was very fast and with a few details that really stand out.

We stepped in to get some real, Hungarian goulash and we weren't disappointed. Although the price was quite high (about 1800 HUF, 6 eur), the portion was enough to make us feel full. The waitress was very nice and spoke English (not so obvious in Budapest).

To be honest, we did look at Trip Advisor to find a venue for dinner and came up with this one and it definitely lived up to others and our expectations. Go there as it was excellent.

Description
Welcome to Terv Presszó! Located in the heart of Budapest on Nádor utca since 1954. Originally created as a local neighborhood cafe/pub, the Terv Presszó later became the local hangout of writers and artists. The "presszó", once ubiquitous in Budapest during socialist times, functioned as something between a traditional cafe, a cukrászda and a pub. Such places are disappearing from the Budapest scene and the Terv, along with the Bambi, the Ibolya and a few others, are carrying on the "presszó" tradition. Now a cafe and restaurant, the Terv features a full bar, serving beer, Hungarian wines and cocktails. We also offer traditional Hungarian food like Goulash served in a bogrács, chicken paprikás, and beef stew served with homemade dumplings, salads and Hungarian desserts. The Terv Presszó is proud to be one of the few surviving neighborhood pubs in the 5th district, catering to locals, tourists and CEU students who enjoy a bit of Budapest nostalgia. Come visit and see our collection of original art and artifacts from the 50s, 60s and 70s! Open every day from 11 am. We close at 10 pm weekdays and at midnight on Friday and Saturday. Reservations and walk-ins both welcome.

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
