We were recommended by the hotel concierge to go here for traditional Hungarian food. We had about an hour before the opera so we needed reasonably quick service which we got! We received good recommendations for food and for wines to accompany the food from the staff who were very helpful and knowledgeable. When the food arrived, it was excellent... More

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel. The staff were fine, but I felt not fully sincere. The food was good, but nothing remarkable, and I thought it was expensive for what it was. There were 2 guys playing a violin and double bass, but I didn't think it added much to the atmosphere. Probably the smartest toilets in... More

We were recommended here by the hotel concierge and almost didn't come when he mentioned that they had music with a violinist. I assumed the worst (i.e. someone walking from table to table probably selling roses) and couldn't have been more wrong. The music was unobtrusive, classical and quite moving at times. The food was great we had venison and... More

My wife and I chose Rezkakas based on a recommendation from the Concierge at the Intercontinental. Needless to say, we were not disappointed!! The food was of high quality, as was the service. However, the best part of the night was the live music performed by local musicians. All in all, we were incredibly happy with our choice and will... More

This restaurant is the upper end of mid-range restaurants, but the food was superb. I recommend the game as a main course, which was venison and beautifully cooked. The service was excellent and the waiters gave advice on wine and food. Local wine was very good. There was live traditional music which was very discreet.

This was recommended by the hotel and I am so happy I went! The food was so tasty, the recommended wine was delicious and then my favourite part, the music! I wanted to stay all night, I thought they were fantasic. I would recommend a trip here. Service was efficient and polite, thank you for a lovely evening.

We were greeted by a very stern looking woman who was not welcoming at all. There are no descriptions of the food on the menu so you had no idea what it was, when you asked what the dishes were the staff were not really helpful and didn't seem very interested, basically would describe them as up themselves! Very expensive... More

Lovely atmosphere and a nice enough place but not amazing. The menu was a little limited for choice. Pleasant enough but not our favourite

We ate here about 2215 on a Saturday night. We'd been to the opera at the Erkel Theatre and were too late to get a meal at our hotel (TheAria). The hotel did recommend this one as one restaurant of three that was only a few minutes’ walk. Both the food and the service were very good. The service might... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
