Food: the chicken with breadcrumbs is amazing, a must try. The goat cheese starter is also very tasty. The starter with potato velouté is not tasty neither the dessert made from cheese. Wine: amazing selection of wine. I would definitely recommend the white chardonnay. Service: staff professional and kind. We asked to have few items on a separate bill and they directly did. We were 11 persons: the starters were all served at the same time, same as for the main course. The service though is a bit slow. They need at least 30 min after taking the order to provide the starter and another 30 min for the main course. Music: live band is nice Atmosphere: enjoyable and i like the inside decoration of wood. Toilets: very clean

Stumbled across Aszu following Trip Advisor reviews, on first impression the restaurant is eye catching and aesthetically pleasing. My husband and I ate mains and desserts of which both were reasonably sized and tasty. The live the music was good and provided a good uplifting atmosphere...... although once finished it left the restaurant feeling very quiet and flat. Upon request for the bill, they gave out a feedback form, we were honest and when paying the bill they questioning the feedback, apologised for the atmosphere and gave a free glass of wine each. Although not necessary it was a nice touch if a little desperate. In total, good food, great decor and with a little help could be a nice all round experience. More expensive than other places but understandably OK given local restaurant’s location.

We had the pleasure to dine as staff in the outdoor seating during one visit, which led us to book a Corporate VIP Group Dinner for 30 guests indoors at Aszu. We have had several group dinners in Budapest and Aszu was one of our favorites. It is clear Tamás Kovacsik cares greatly about the customer experience. He was quick to respond to my many questions and requests during pre-planning and a pleasure to work with. He was eager to please while still sharing his expertise and remaining tactfully honest about what would work best for our guests. In the few instances he was not available, Norbert Lipcsey always was, either via email, phone, or in person. The service staff showed the same care and concern for our guests during the dinner itself. Aszu provides a warm, inviting atmosphere. We received rave reviews about the food. (A note that this appetizer is so good, it should NOT be missed: Perfect poached egg, sorrel, „Bükki” mountain cow cheese, yoghourt, potato variations.) A note that we had a few seats that were a bit hard to get to, but I am certain with a quick site visit in advance, the restaurant is sure to accommodate my or your seating preferences. I recommend Aszu for personal or group dining and hope to have the chance to return. I dream about that appetizer.

A friend and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner enhanced by live music on a weekend night. I ordered the goulash and loved their rich and tasty interpretation enhanced by hints of cherry. An English language menu is available and servers are quite competent with the language. I really enjoyed their suggested Hungarian wine. The restaurant hosted a few tourists, family groups in for holiday celebrations, and couples. Dinner reservations are a must. I highly recommend enjoying top notch Hungarian cuisine here.

We were looking for a place in order to have dinner, but in such a touristic city without a reservation is very difficult to find a nice place. It was not the case. We walked in, we ask for a table and luckily there was one table available. The service was fantastic, very elegant and professional. The food was delicious (Hungarian food but also not Hungarian specialities). The music played live by a musician was very warming and not disturbing. Wonderful atmosphere. Elegant but not snob. Price more than honest. (About 30 euros for person, we were 4, for an entree and a main dish + one bottle of wine) 5 star!

In fairness, our table had been booked at a peak time, and the restaurant appeared to be incredibly busy, with not enough waiters working. Our waiter was very nice and friendly, but had clearly been given too many tables at the same time, and so this obviously impacted the service - something which I believe was no fault of his own. Our food took a long time to arrive, and when it did arrive I genuinely felt as though it was not how it was described on the menu. In addition to this, it was lukewarm at best. On the other hand, my friend ordered the pork, which he said was really tasty. My food was average, but it just wasn’t what I was expecting, and was a little disappointing given how highly rated this restaurant is. The prices at the restaurant are on the pricier side for Budapest, but will still feel low for anyone coming from Western Europe. When presented with the bill, we were handed a survey, which we filled out. When our waiter came over with the card machine, he read through the survey, and asked why we rated the meal as we did. (For context we rated it 3/5 on the survey). I really didn’t want to make a scene, or seem picky etc so just explained that it wasn’t what we expected, and the waiter very kindly got his manager to take my meal off the bill. I hadn’t said anything to the staff when my meal came out, and had ate almost all of the dish, so it didn’t feel right to not pay for it, but both the manager and the waiter insisted. I really do believe that on a different day / time, the meal would have been much better, so please do not let this review put you off eating here in any way, this was just our experience.

Aszu restaurant was recommended to us, and they didn’t disappoint. Food was exceptional and the waiter was very helpful in pairing a suitable wine with our meal. Their attentive staff were so welcoming and the traditional Hungarian music made our evening quite unique. Genuinely couldn’t fault anything during our visit and would definitely recommend a visit if you want fine dining at a very reasonable price.

I was walking on the street when I saw the restaurant and the decoration and the menu was very attractive so I decided to have dinner. And it was really worth it! Great ambiance with quality live music, great service, the waiter was friendly and very professional and the food was not only delicious but was also served in a beautiful way and good size portions. The price was really affordable for the quality of the restaurant (in other European cities it would cost the double!) I definitely recommend.

Lovely decor inside. The staff are very friendly and super efficient. There is a man that plays music in the evening (I don't know what the instrument is called) who is a joy to listen to. The food is excellent! Very good value for money for a fine-dining restaurant. I went there twice during my stay in Budapest. Once as a table of 4 and the other time as a table of 29. Both occasions were just as good as each other. I can highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for something special at a good price.

The Aszu team were brilliant from the moment we arrived. Service was perfectly pitched giving our family assistance when needed and leaving us undisturbed to enjoy the great food and atmosphere. The menu was replete with modern Hungarian dishes that were delicious and kept all of us happy. The dining room is dazzling and equally welcoming for a low key family meal or a special night out. We will definitely be back.

Professional service, nice athmosphere. The meals ate nicely decorated, delicius and healthy, éven the tough hungarian dishes are prepared healthy. Live music is played during the night.

After leaving a different restaurant because it felt awkward, we were recommended and booked a table at Aszu by our hotel. We were very hot when we arrived and so asked to sit inside while everyone else was outside. They accommodated us very well and turned on the air-conditioning just for us. The main waiter and all other staff were very nice and the food was amazing. For the food, the type of service we received and the class of the restaurant, the price was very reasonable. The main waiter was happy to tell us more about the food and drinks. There was also a man playing a xylophone throughout the meal which was brilliant. Really created a full atmosphere. Once they found out it was my partners birthday they brought us over 2 glasses of dessert wine for free and told us how the restaurant was named after it. We enjoyed it that much we went back again 2 days later.

Service very polite. The menu has 15-20 dishes in total, which is great as the focus on quality. Worth the price given, around 20-25 per person with dessert. Will visit again. Advice: book prior to arrival

Dinner for two - overall wouldn't return for the price. Lighting was dim, and our table was uncomfortably close to another table. From the moment we sat down, we were told we should order quickly because a large group was coming in soon - I could appreciate this transparency at the moment, but that group arrived around the time we finished our meal, 1.5 hours later, so I would have rather not been rushed in retrospect. While they have spirits on their menu, when I asked for a Hendricks martini, I was told they do not do cocktails, so I ordered it on the rocks. That came in a highball glass, filled with ice, and some gin at the bottom. It also had a straw in it... The food was good, but for the price I expected better. You can get similar quality food elsewhere in the city, without paying for an overall experience that was lackluster.

Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
