Flodni is a special Jewish cake and Rachel's Flodni is the best cake that I ate for a very long time! Fresh, juicy, not too sweet - a definite must for all lowers of sweets. And the small café very cute and full of atmosphere. Great place in the Jewish quarter!

I used this company for delivering a cake for an important personal event. I ordered on the web page as instructed and they took the money from my account - but no cake:-( I got a strange message that they couldn't find the address, and later I got another message - that the cake was delivered at 6pm, but at... Dear Lone J, We are very sorry for your disappointment! We tried to explain to you the situation, and sent emails to you several times and tried to call you also but you phone was not available when we tried (4 different times). We made the cake and delivered it to the address. The person who took it identified himsemlf... More

This cafe isnt the greatest cafe in the world but they do have Flodni which is a traditional Hungarian Jewish cake. Just lovely! The coffee is nice and they do have a good range of other cakes too. The lady who runs the cafe offers very good service.

At the end of a hot and tiring day's sightseeing we needed a cold drink and something to eat. Having been told about this little gem on a walking tour we sought it out and to our delight it was quiet. I know everyone raves about Rachel's flodni but we settled on the cherry strudel and it just melted in... More

This is a tiny cafe with three different eating areas squeezed into a small space, but the food is amazing. The flodni is a Hungarian Jewish pastry which should not be missed!

This place is a bit tucked-away; the counter was staffed by just one woman, and in front of that are just a couple of tables and chairs. The service was great--the server was amiable and had good recommendations. The flodni was delicious, a must-try in the Jewish Quarter, and it's reasonably priced.

I came here as part of a food tour. We tried several of their offerings, which were all good, but the flodni was by far the best thing. I've been a regular ever since.

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
