As imagined and more...... We stumbled across the wine bar bistro next door, (see previous reviews)... saw this restaurant next door but couldn't eat there as had had tea,,, went back Monday & Tuesday (closed sadly), Wednesday we had been out all day & caught 16 bus to see if it was open, bearing in mind its late September, we... Small quiet family Restauarnt. Excellent value, good quality food and very friendly. Even though there are no views in the place, it is on the way down from old town. Seems better than the touristic places up there.

Disappointing. Cold meats to start were fine. Service slow. Schnitzel overcooked and lacking seasoning. The "digestif" is horrid, too strong and unlike in Spain it is charged for without making that clear beforehand. Overall...don't bother.

We stopped in at Hunyadi for a late dinner on a Sunday night. They were having a slow evening. Euro-pop with a disco beat was blaring from the sound system. The decor was modern with some local touches, and while nice enough, could be described as austere. We ordered goulash and beef paprikash. Our waited offered a nice homemade hot... More

Chose this place because close to hotel on a cold and still somewhat rainy night. Goulash soup was good but not as good as the version we had at Marvellosa (only a few blocks away). Beef paprika (stew) and dumplings were good, though portion was modest. Overall, would rate the experience as average. Service was friendly on a quiet night.... More

Found this restaurant after visiting the Fisherman's Bastion. The prices were excellent and the quality of the food first class. We had traditional goulash soup, followed by goulash and dumplings and a delicious chococlate fondant with cherries. The ambiance of the restaurant and the friendliness of the hosts made for an excellent evening. The hungarian red wine we had was... More

This was the best place we ate at in Budapest. The food was so good and the service was exceptional so we ended up going back the next day. I had the roasted duck leg and the duck with fois gras, which were both fantastic. But the best part was the cheese cream bowl for dessert - one of the... More

A very friendly welcome and good food. We particularly liked the Turkey Goulash soup which was most unusual. A litte lacking in atmosphere but perhaps we ate too ealry. The staff were very helpful and the food great

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
