This is a difficult review to write. The service seemed a little hap-hazard, for example people seated after us were given bread etc long before we were. Whilst the waiter initially appeared attentive, he did not mention any of the specials and because of where our table was situated, we did not see the blackboard until we had made our... More

My wife and I visited Winekitchen during lunchtime. Waiter seated us, as we were reading the menu he helped us to choose a wine for our taste. We ordered soup and main course. The place started to get busy and we still got the same service as when we arrived. The staff was very attentive and accomodating, but just as... More

The restaurant has comfortable atmosphere and conducive for unwinding. Staffs display great customer service, polite and  friendly. They have fabulous wine selection and super deliciously amazing food from starters, mains until dessert. I tried rabbit soup in citrus and fish with bean ragout. Both were tasty, great flavors and freshly cooked. The passion fruit coconut cake with mascarpone ice cream... More

The place was packed on a Friday evening even at a second seating starting at 21 o'clock, great atmosphere. It was a bit hard to hear what the other person was saying. The food and wine was fantastic, and the staff was knowledgeable though obviously very busy. Prices were very reasonable.

Visited Borkonyha with my wife this evening, and it was perfect. The welcoming was very nice, the table in a good setting, food top prepared and the wine was the right one for our food ! All was very well, can be recommended, but remember to book beforehand and that the prices are for Michelin 1 star. But it is... More

I visited recently with a few work colleagues and although we were forewarned of our short sitting time (ending at sharp 21:00) the experience with the waiting staff was underwhelming for a restaurant with this reputation. However, the food (great daily special scallops) and wine selection was very good - and that is indeed what we came here for. Nevertheless,... More

Our dinner here was amazing! Excellent service and well presented dishes in a quite friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It's prices are reasonable for a Michelin starred restaurant.

The tasting menu with accompanied wines was just Perfect. The young waiter with good wine knowledge of Hungarian wines made our stay unforgetable.

Really good food at decent prices. They use fresh ingredients and combine different ingredients to make innovative dishes. They have various day specials above the main menu. I went for the fish appetizer and main - both were good and my partner went for venison (pigeon and deer) and have to say that he opted better. The meat was so... More

Arguably the best foodie and wine haven that the city of Budapest has to offer. Borkonyha offers a wide range of top quality Hungarian wine alongside incredibly flavoursome food. The rabbit soup and angus beef were sublime, both in terms of taste and presentation, while the one of the chef's specials was a real treat (some of the best Venison... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
