First the food. Excellent choice of local food. Foie gras with dark chocolate just amazing experience. The right place to enjoy goose dishes. Very good choice of Hungarian wines. Finally professional, nice and helpful staff.

We had a fabulous meal, from cocktails and Tigris' famous fois gras to to dessert and coffee, in a lovely setting with kind, impeccable service. What a refreshing surprise, especially after being continuously disappointed by rude service, overpriced and mediocre food and goods, plus disorganized systems/processes almost everywhere else we visited in Budapest.

This is definitly one of the best restaurants I have visited. Fantastic meal - with specific tastes and lovely presentations together with lovely hungarian wines. Highly recommendable.

Excellent meal and wine. Michelin quality at non-Michelin price. Foie gras taster starter is historic.

On 29 October 2016 I arranged a dinner party for five people at the Tigris Restaurant. The ambience was nice and the service was good. The food appeared well prepared and presented. When I left, I intended to write an excellent review on the web. Unfortunately, I can’t do that. Two of us ordered the duck main course, and both... More

I was wandering the streets and just wanted a warming soup so popped in this fine dining restaurant. The staff were attentive and continuously plied me with a lovely variety of home made bread before bringing the best goulash soup I've ever had. I saw other diners enjoying more courses, which looked sublime, but as I was already going out... More

If you want a fine dining at affordable price, then this is a very good place. All dishes was qualitative, but my memories about this restaurant will be always linked with the foie gras selection, and especially for the crème brulee foie gras and the chocolate one. Worth booking in advance, place is pretty busy. The service is very attentive,... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
