We read reviews of restaurants to visit while in Prague, and La Veranda was highly recommended. Our hotel confirmed, so we booked in. We were immediately charmed by the light and welcoming interior and gracious hosts. Our table was very comfortable, and the menu interesting. My only criticism is that I would loved to have a cocktail before dinner, and/or... More

La Veranda was on a list of restaurants recommended by our hotel when we booked it. After reading the reviews, we decided on La Veranda because of its menu. When we were in Prague, it was St. Martins day so many of the restaurants were offering goose. The typical Czech cuisine is definitely heavy and the flavors can be overpowering... More

This was a great meal in Prague. While a lot of Prague's restaurants offer hearty / heavy dishes (pork roast with gravy, goose, sausage & potato salad) our meal here was elegant and refreshing. The selection of foods was good, the wine selection was good, the service was good, the ambiance was good, everything, in combination, made for a great... More

Our meal at La Veranda was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Prague. This restaurant provided a very relaxing and un-rushed atmosphere with a great selection of seafood.

Excellent food - highly recommended. Try the Foie Gras and the Seabass and finally the Fondant - near perfection - .

We regularly visit Prague and look to try new restaurants, this one came from a recommendation from our hotel. It is rather unassuming from the outside and would be easy to miss, but it is worth the effort. Having booked we had a table on the upper level. The service from arrive and thought the meal was very good. For... More

Was lucky enough to have dined here for lunch last weekend . The Restaurant has a great location situated around the corner from the Intercontinental Hotel . We found the place on Tripadvisor which was handy as the place is fairly unassuming and you would easily walk pat it without giving it a second glance . We were seated by... More

Staying in Josefov

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefov
Josefov houses Prague’s Jewish community. This small neighbourhood centered around Široká street is completely surrounded by Staré Město (Old Town). As the former Jewish Ghetto, today all that remains are a few synagogues and the oldest surviving Jewish cemetery in Europe. The narrow streets were once small enough that a person could touch the houses on both sides. You can still feel the dignity and history this neighbourhood carries in its legacy as Franz Kafka’s birthplace. Nearby streets are full of kosher restaurants, museums and antique bookstores.
