This eatery is a bit out of the way--it is located in the basement of the Municipal House--just go past the two restaurants flanking the entrance to the building and head downstairs. Good, authentic Czech food at reasonable prices.

Nice stylish restaurant in basement of "Obecni dum" with special lunch offer of 1/2 duck with dumpings and cabbage for only 330 CZK (12 euro), evening price 430 CZK (16 euro). It is freshly baced and very tasty, one of the best I have ever had.

One of the most authentic Czech pubs with excellent food and service. I can recommend the famous Czech sauce "svickova" and goulash with dumplings.

A lovely art nouveau style, open and lavishly furnished Czech restaurant. A cut above with authentic cuisine. Polite and efficient waiters, great menu selections. A real experience. I repeat, don't miss this.

Good food in beautiful surroundings at the underground of the Municipal house where like in most of Prague an excellent beer is served.

Was a taxi ride from our hotel but worth it. We both ordered the Roast Duck with a grilled sausage appetizer. The sausage was great and served with a cabbage pancake. The roast duck was some of the best I have ever had. The skin was crispy but the meat was not overly greasy. Served with red cabbage (great) and... More

Lovely interior, good service, good food - not too pricey either. It is a huge room - not even a quarter full when we were there (a saturday evening around 7pm). We were a group of 17 but this was no problem for our waiters and they were very attentive. Steak was delicious and they had some interesting Czech dishes... More

We stopped in for a late lunch. Happy hour at 3 for cheaper Pilsener, as it was pricey prior to that. Food was traditional Czech. Goulash soup hit the spot as did the fried cheese. A little pricey for Prague but good food nonetheless.

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
