We haven't been for a while as last time we had a poor experience. Well, a year later the place is buzzing. Really good food and service. Recommend the lamb and the pork. Good gin selection as well

My wife and I went out for dinner at The Poet last night (14 October 2017). We had not been there before, but we will certainly go again. The 16th-century building is mainly wood, with low beams, giving the restaurant a warm, cosy feel. The...More

We have visited the poet a couple of times. We’re always greeted with a warm welcome. The food is faultless, and staff are so polite and attentive. If you haven’t been yet I would highly recommend their steak night. They have an amazing selection of...More

This was our first visit to the Poet and we were not disappointed. The meal was a 'thank you' to friends for some work done on our house and it was suitably 'special', just right for the occasion. We shared two starters between four of...More

We came here after an event for dinner. The staff were friendly but very efficient. The food was really good - definitely more restaurant standard than pub standard. If we were local we would be coming back here again.

I'd call and ask Andy the proprietor - he's always very helpful and with sufficient notice would accommodate your request I'm sure. It's fabulous food in a lovely country setting - you'll not be disappointed. Lindsay.
