We stopped here for lunch after arriving on the TranzAlpine Train and read good reviews online, it was very disappointing. We had the pasta with mushroom and bacon and it was so plain and took a long time to receive. We also had a chicken sandwich which was ok, served with fries and the ketchup was very tangy. We don't... More

The place is open only for breakfast and lunch and they usually refuse to cook you stuff past 3. Although the kitchen was closed, we could get our hands on the Fish & Chips and the Sea Food Chowder. Freddy's is central to everything in town including the train station. I was impressed by the food and the coffee was great good way to relax and unwind after a long day of travelling or working and not to hard on the wallet

We had brunch at Freddy's with a friend who is a Greymouth local. hidden away in an upstairs room, we were impressed with the atmosphere. I ordered a whitebait sammy which was not bad value for money (after seeing the prices at some other establishments!). Service was okay & we didn't have to wait long for our food.
