After three months in Asia, it is lovely to be back home in Whangarei and one of my favourites in the town basin area is the Serenity cafe. It doesn't have the best location in the area but makes up for it with great food and decent coffee. My favorite is the banana and bacon pancakes. Nice thin pancakes, bacon... More

Good value for money....this busy cafe serves a solid breakfast choice followed by a blackboard menu for lunch. Check out the food cabinet too for many tempting items. Service is prompt and with a smile. Free parking is available nearby at the Town Basin. If you are a visitor to Whangarei there are a number of interesting shops to browse... More

Had breakfast here. The do really nice coffee, not sure which brand. The make your own breakfast allows you to customise which is great and the serving generous. Located at the basin is a great location for your whangarei stop. Good strolls to be had around the wharfs.

Beautiful food, happy friendly staff and reasonably fast service for such a large cafe. Fully recommend Serenity cafe for a descent family breakfast. Those steak and cheese pies! Yum

Good solid homemade food in a competitive spot. Although at first I was reluctant to go where all the tour busses seem to stop, I was soon pulled in. Good sized portions, no-non-sense service and reasonably priced. Have the muscle chowder.

This cafe has been discovered by everyone who wants tasty homemade foods in a warm friendly atmosphere. It was crowded when we visited for lunch but there was plenty of seating, food was served without a long wait and staff were efficient and cheerful. The Hapuka pie was declared delicious, meat pie appetising and club sandwiches scrumptious. I have been... More

Great friendly service and lovely location. Food was great along with the small bacon and egg savoury pies which were the best I had eaten. The smoked hapuka pie will be on my order when I'm next there.

We have indoor booth seating as well as tables for couples and tables for four. If you are a big family don't be shy to ask our friendly staff to join tables, we are more than happy to do that for you. Outside are more tables and seating with umbrellas for shade. A view of our Clock museum with flowers surrounding a huge sundial gives plenty to entertain visually while enjoying your meal. Tour buses regularly arrive not far from our doorstep with lots of parking and a big play area for children just around the corner. Feedback is essential for constant improvement which we welcome gladly. We hope you enjoy your meal, From all the staff at Serenity Cafe :)
