We went here because of TA recommendations, glad we went when we did because it was closed all over Easter! It was quite tasty, but then we have not had bad fish or seafood since arriving in New Zealand. I am sure that you could get just as good anywhere. Have had no other here to compare it to.

I love coming here for fish and chips. It is very busy, so be warned. The fish is sourced fresh each day and the selection is brilliant. These people make their own chips and boy are they good! The little restaurant may be really retro but it's well worth a sit down and ordering. The girls are friendly and really... More

A good basic fish and chip shop. Various kinds of fish, and other choices. TThe fish is fresh, and service is friendly. We usually stop there on the way home (Wellington) from skiing at Whakapapa or Turoa - we ring 10 minutes ahead (06 345 7937) so it's ready when we get there.

What more can one say than you get a plate of bread (just like holidays when I was young). Food delicious. Service 10/10.

This is the go to for fish and chips in Whanganui. Always fresh and served with a smile I would highly recommend Georges.

Love choosing my own piece of lemon fish and having it cooked to take away to have with a salad at home

Evening takeout meal. Was really lovely and presented nicely in a tray no wrapped in newspaper which makes the food sweat. I didn't have to wait long for the food though they can get really busy there. Parking is a little difficult but that also depends on the time of the day you want your meal.

Just went there this evening. I'd phoned in an order for 7 fish and 3 chips; at $33.50 the price came out the same as ordering pizza for our family of 6. I should have specified what sort of fish and we ended up with a mixture, some of which was beautiful and some of which we didn't enjoy. The... More

I'd heard locals talk about this place & it took years to finally visit. True to the conversations, they offered the best fish & chips I have ever tasted, unbelievable!!! We ate them down by the riverbank as it was such a lovely day. Dining Alfresco! Well worth a stopover. Can't wait to return.

The traditional Kiwi fish and chip stop - do the takeaway and head for a riverbank parking spot to enjoy them. The best in Wanganui!
