What a lovely restaurant. The staff are very attentive, the menu quite varied and the service just great. All the meals were very tasty, very authentic and well presented. A very good place to dine.

What a terrible dining experience at this indian restaurant. The young waitress had to be called to get a drinks order taken then when delivered hurried away before asking if we wanted an entree order. We duly placed an order by two of the guests &...again she went to leave before taking other guests order. She has no personality & definitely needs training in customer service.During the meal we again had to call to get a second drinks order. Seriously when will Whanganui Restauranteurs learn to train their staff. We have not been here for over 6 months & won't be back anytime soon.More

So the restaurant changed hands a while back and the meals changed, obviously a different chef with a different style. It became very bland. However it had improved. But now sadly after being loyal to this restaurant for years, they stop delivering to us. Because...the fuel price went up. However they have always charged me for delivery anyway and I have always paid. So that doesn’t make sense. Never mind. I’ll go to city takeaways instead in Victoria avenue, anyways tasty, always happy.More

We got butter chicken and cheese n garlic naan and it was so delicious! Fed two adults with leftovers. Oh, and the onion bhaji! Highly recommend if you want Indian food in Whanganui. Yes, a little more expensive than other places but you won’t be...disappointed.More

We have enjoyed top quality meals from Spice Guru for many years. However new owners have taken over and the quality has definitely dropped. We were very disappointed with our recent takeaway and won't be going back. My seafood curry was bland with too much...sauce and scant seafood. My husband was also disappointed in the quality of his meal.More

I eat here regularly and it’s always fast, super fresh and piping hot. Great flavours and polite staff. Generous servings and always value.

Had dinner with the whānau not to long ago, first time going and the service was excellent! They have a large variation of meals and about 10 special meals that are incredible! Very interesting too¬. I ordered the Beef Korma, which had a pleasing taste...with a good amount of spice and flavor! Absolutely love it! Will come again.More

Meal out with visiting whānau. I ordered the butter chicken and garlic Naan. Waitress unable to answer questions about listed menu items. Individual plates brought out and handed to each person. Rice was presented in two separate bowls one larger than the other to share....Butter chicken was bland like it had been watered down and Naan was flavorless. I ordered a mango Lassi which was not drinkable as super sweet. Staff were less than enthusiastic. Interior was outdated and tables looked like they needed a good wipe. Will not be back. Disappointing.More

We had the lunch special each. I had the vindaloo and my wife the Korma. It came with rice, a papadam and half a plain naan. Both were well-prepared, generous servings and thankfully lacking the general ``goopiness'' of a lot of NZ Indian food. That...is, the flavours were clean. The Korma was very good, and this is not a curry I generally like as it is often tasteless. Excellent value and I recommend and would definitely go again. A couple who came in at the same time as us had fancier fare (prawns on a hot plate and other things) which looked and smelled great, but as I did not have I can't comment further.More

We eat here regularly and have never had a bad experience - food, service or otherwise. The dishes are interesting and tasty. Like anywhere, some dishes suit my palate better than others but there are plenty of dishes to choose from to find a favourite....Naan breads are very big and nicely done. It's our "go to" place for Indian food.More

The ambience is ok as is the service, but the food was pathetic to taste especially the chicken dish... It had a strange smell to it... could not even eat anything & the manager assured us that it was fresh & boiled... A horrible experience......Woukd better avoid it in the future....More

As out of towners we joined a local who recommended this establishment. We were very happy with all aspects of the experience. The 3 of us ordered different meals then shared so all were medium, which will be changed to hot next time. We had...garlic plus cheese and coriander naan breads plus Lamb Korma, Goa Fish a spinach chicken which were all most pleasant. Will return again for different meal choices and report.More

We would happily eat here again. We went on a Friday night, the atmosphere was relaxing and the staff really friendly. Excellent food - we had butter chicken, chicken sagwella and rogen josh along with a mixed platter for entree. Plenty of food for all...- even the teenage son.More

Been here heaps of times. Fabulous food, staff, service and surroundings. Quiet tasteful ambience, staff are lovely and never in your face, and they are smartly dressed. Service is next to none and the food is plentiful and tasty. Thoroughly recommend. A 10/10 restaurant.
