From the moment we entered for dinner last night, the service was impeccable.
The restaurant was nearly full with only 1 table empty but the waiting staff were extremely attentive - and at the right times (which is half the battle at some restaurants!).
Good...choice of beers and wines to start the evening - and then the food discussion started…
The menu is fixed price entree / main or main / dessert or all three. after much debate between us, we agreed on entree and mains (and also no starters to save room for dessert if we wanted).
Firstly, the bread slice was beautiful and tasty - and then on to the entrees which were the beetroot tart and steak tartare - and they were both perfect. Full of taste, great consistency, and absolutely on-point.
For mains, wallaby (cooked as they suggested, medium-rare) and the mushroom gnocchi with sides of maple pumpkin and as salad. Both were very wholesome, full meals… actually too much !! We finished the plate of wallaby which was perfectly cooked, very tasty and great combination of accompaniments. However, the gnocchi was so rich and so filling, could only get through half of the plate - but very delicious - we commented that we were lucky that we hadn’t chosen the pork belly as an entree!
The couple on the next table also highlighted that their food was totally delicious (they had the Ling with squid ink rice) and that it actually was paired really well.
So, service excellent, food very good - but just make sure you balance how much food you want / need !! Highly recommended.
