Food was a bit better than your standard pub meal. Service was good and relaxed atmosphere, great beers on tap. Probably the highlight was the great 80's music they were playing.

Family of four had a main meal (2 of which were steaks) and a drink each (2 softies and 2 alcoholic) totalling $91 so pretty good value. Food was nice and there was a trivia quiz in progress when we arrived.

Terrible. Obviously new management. Pork belly was tuff and not worth the price. Used to eat regularly but won't be returning

Better than the average pub meals are served with a selection of daily specials, all at a very reasonable price. The service is good and the staff very friendly. There's a wide range cold beers and a good selection of white wines. All the amenities...More

The Cooly Sands is not what it used to be, with sticky carpet, the smell of urine permeating across the bar, and toothless old women trying to hook up with drunk backpackers. Ahhh they were the days, good times. Now the Coolangatta Sands Hotel is...More

Very good value $15 lamb roast which was very good. The meat was very tender and big range of vegetables with gravy and mint sauce. Worth going back to again

Good quick meals, didn't wait long and well priced. Beef Schnitzel is called Schnitty by the way. Good sized meals, good service and quiet. Good party spot later on in next bar though

The Coolangatta Sands Hotel had great food at a reasonable price. We went on a Thursday night during the school holidays and didn't get there until around 8:00. There were few people there so the food was quick too. Would definitely go there again.

Description
The Coolangatta Sands Hotel, affectionately known as “The Sands” by locals, is located in the heart of Coolangatta, a hundred metres or so from the nearest surf beach. Since 1911, this beautiful old pub has undergone many transitions—the most significant in December 2016, transforming it into a modern dining facility, lounge and sports bar. The Sands is comprised of a public bar and the newly renovated restaurant and lounge bar, the Kirrabelle Kitchen. The Kirrabelle Kitchen is a contemporary and elegant dining facility that offers a variety of gourmet food and drinks set in a colourful and retro themed atmosphere. Serving up fresh and delicious meals—from tempting entrées, satisfying main courses, share plates and pizzas, to tasty food your children won’t be able to resist—as well as free live entertainment every weekend. The public bar features a pool table, a large widescreen TV tuned to all the latest sporting events, and a state-of-the-art TAB facility for those who like a bit of a thrill. If you’re seeking the perfect place for your upcoming event or function, The Alley Bar is the place for you. It features dreamy murals, fairy lights, a unique stand-alone bar and an extensive range of craft beers, wine and spirits. We also have our own bottle shop that offers a wide variety of wine, beer and spirits at great prices. Upstairs, the Coolangatta Sands Backpacker Hostel offers clean, safe, modern and affordable accommodation with a range of useful facilities. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, you’ll feel right at home at The Sands.
