We had an excellent lunch. I had a chicken melt sandwich with bacon and avocado. My husband had the special which was bangers and mash. Both meals were delicious, well presented and reasonably priced. The service was friendly and efficient. Both inside and outside tables are available.

We had dinner here and shared the lamb platter for two. Wow, it was delicious and the vegetables and potatoes that were cooked with it were also great. We actually had two meals from Olive Tree as the Milford Sound tour served lunch from here on a picnic. Our picnic was superb!

During the three days, we (a Road Scholar group) were in Te Anau, we ate breakfast here each day. The food was very good and the service was totally accommodating.

Friendly staff, great chips but the food is mostly deep fried otherwise it would have been 5 stars. Coffee is very good try the seafood chowder which is also very good.

The Olive Tree Café is a very nice café and restaurant situated in the centre of Te Anau. They provide a variety of different dishes and even vegetraians find something. The food tastes really good and the staff is very friendly. However there is the same problem as we have experienced in most other restaurants in New Zealand: They do... More

Walked into Te Anau and found many of the restaurants very busy. About 2/3rds down the main pedestrianised street saw a small courtyard and there was the 'Olive Tree Cafe'. Very rustic with some outdoor tables and 'specials menu board'. The food was excellent and not overpriced, the staff friendly and enquired if everything was ok, a very easy, relaxed... More

We came here on our first night and were not disappointed. The staff are absolutely lovely and very helpful. The food is great and cheap. I loved the garden out the back :)

Out of the limited options in Te Anau, the Olive Tree was the most highly recommended and was best place we ate at in town. I had the NZ lamb and Filet Mignon, both of which were great which seems to be a theme with any meat ordered on the South Island. My vegetarian wife was extremely happy with the... More

I'm vegetarian so always do research before going out to eat to make sure there is a choice for me. I'd read on here and other websites that the Olive Tree did good vegetarian food so I went there. The staff were fine and I sat down looking forward to my stir fry. It was offered in medium or large... More

My husband and I have been traveling in New Zealand for several weeks and dined this evening at the Olive Tree Cafe. The roast lamb for two with fresh salad and roasted vegetables was superb- the best of our entire NZ stay! Fresh ingredients and good sauces. Great service.
