We dined at Public Kitchen on a warm Thursday night in late February - our first night in NZ. We made a reservation in advance and then also showed up earlier in the day to confirm with the host that we wanted a table next to the lake in their outdoor dining area. Sure enough they saved a perfect table... More

Had an amazing view over the lake and even though it was very cold the blankets provided kept us nice and snug. Can never go wrong with the pork belly or squid rings but the veges and beans made it! The craft beers were great and the place has a real kiwi atmosphere to it. Definitely coming back again!

The food as this place was very nice but very expensive. I believe that you pay for the view as this restaurant over looks the harbour. Meals are small and you must order sides as the meals don't come with anything. This is more of a sharing platters place

We went to this lakeside bar/restaurant on the recommendation of some locals and were thrilled to find something out of the ordinary. Let's start with the atmosphere: it was Friday evening and people were relaxing noisily in the bar area and there seemed to be a contented buzz coming from the dining room at the rear. We wrapped ourselves around... More

Good service, lovely outlook. Tiny bland meals. Overpriced. Had to ask for more hot sauce which was not hot and only a tablespoon originally served. Won't be going back. The only decent meal was the flounder.

What a GREAT place for dinner! Terrific food and views! The service was wonderful- thank you, Cassie! Do not miss the chips - fried in duck fat- you're on vacation!

Quite bland meals. It is recommended you order a side, as the main style meals are basically just the meat/protein you order, so it becomes more expensive than expected. Disappointing.

Excellent service we had the fish and chips which was beautifully presented but had a weird taste to both the batter and the chips so I can only assume everything is cooked in the same oil, maybe it was the deep fried sage leaves?

We had a couple of items from the tapas style menu. Pork Belly and Salt and Pepper Squid. Both were delicious and ideal for sharing a mid afternoon snack with a few nice ciders. We sat outside and watched the activity on the water. Jet Boats spinning and we watch the TSS Earnslaw steamship come in. It was a lovely... More
