I was quite disappointed in our evening at d'Urville's restaurant. The atmosphere decor of the restaurant is very ordinary, service was average with waiting staff not that interested. Food was presented beautifully but was quite average. There are much nicer places to dine in Marlborough.

We are so sorry to hear that you have had a rather bad experience at Hotel d'Urville restaurant. We wish we could investigate to find out what happened that night as we rarely receive such reviews, especially "the waiting staff not interested" and "the food was quite average". We don't pretend to be the best restaurant in Marlborough but we... More

The Hotel d'Urville is a wonderful and unique hotel to base yourself from if visiting the Marlborough region of New Zealand, on the South Island. The food is wonderful, as is the selection of wine available. The staff is extremely friendly and took very good care of us. The hotel is close to quite a few of the great places... More

Thank you kindly for your review. We are very happy to hear you had a good time in our establishment. Hotel d'Urville is registered with the NZ Historic Places Trust which dictate what we can or can't do within the building, hence why we can't have an elevator or change the layout of the rooms. We wish you all the... More

We were there for a romantic dinner. The food was very or even less than average. The sauce of the linguine pasta tasted nothing like seafood, only of cream. The venison was underseasoned. Overall, we did not feel like the food and experience was worth the money we paid.

I'm very sorry to hear about your not so great experience dining in our restaurant. I would have loved to have a chat with you on the night in order for us to fix any of the issues you mentioned on the review. I'm a little surprised myself, as the two dishes you commented on are currently our best sellers... More

Thanks so much to the staff at D'Urvilles. We enjoyed our wedding anniversary with the help of the lovely food & drink of this establishment. The service was exquisite for this Canadian and his Kiwi wife and we hope to be back soon. A special thanks to our French host who supported the right ambience for us on the night.

Rather stiff ambience but no complaints about food or service. Wine was a little expensive (a consistent complaint with New Zealand given it produces so much of its own) but food was well cooked and well presented.

We enjoyed the food so much we ate here twice. Four of us ate here. Everyone loved the food. Service is excellent too. Definitely the best meal in Blenheim if not all of NZ. Well done!

D'Urville is ideally situated right in the center of Blenheim. Lovely rooms individually decorated with New Zealand furniture. Loaded with character. Our bathroom was minuscule. Downside is that there is no elevator which make hauling heavy luggage a pain. Only one staff to manage reception and concierge etc. No bartender the night we had dinner. This hotel is seriously understaffed.... More

Thank you very much for your review. Hotel d'Urville was built in 1923. It is a registered building within the NZ Historic Places Trust which would never allow us to install an elevator unfortunately. We always offer to help with heavy luggage as much as we can knowing that the stairs can be a pain for some people. Each room... More

We went here because we are foodies and they had venison on the menu which we'd been craving. Dish was tasty and colorful. The service by a Frenchman, was pretty friendly although a bit arrogant in assuming we didn't know much about food or wine. He seemed annoyed that we only wanted two glasses of wine rather than a bottle... More

I'm very sorry and slightly confused to hear you found my approach arrogant. Being in a wine growing region with hundreds of winemakers around, trust me, I would never assume that a client would not know much about wine and food... I was just trying to be helpful and most of the customers dining in our restaurant appreciate the little... More
