The GP is starting to get a bit tatty, but it's not trying to be anything other than what it is. The lunch dishes are good value at $20, and were nicely done and very tasty - it's good pub grub. The fish and chips were very good, being hot and properly fried without excess oil - but please GP,... More

This restaurant / bar gets busy - you probably need a reservation for dinner. Eating in this wonderful old historic building is a real treat. It is historic both inside and out. We had a group with a set menu - all of the meal choices looked very nice and everyone seemed to enjoy the food. My plate was very... More

The bar was close to our hotel and we had a drink there several evenings after a busy day sightseeing. Good location, friendly staff and obviously very popular with workers after they have finished work.

Everything was great: the building, the room for our large group(17 adults), the staff, the food. The courses to the meal were very slow. And the quality of the meal in taste and freshness was lacking. For example, the fries in most of Australia were SO good. The fries, again in Australia, were prepared properly namely twice fried for a... More

We met friends here for dinner, and had a wonderful meal in pleasant surroundings. Not too noisy, and the service was quick, friendly and efficient.

Our first night in Wellington we dropped in here by chance. I had the steak au poivre and my husband the fish and chips. Although my husband said his meal was average my steak was really good. We also enjoyed the house merlot. Service was quick and very friendly. Although the place was busy we didn't feel crowded or rushed.

This was a quirky place because it was a former GP surgery and there are lots of artefacts displayed around the walls. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. The menu choice was varied and we had a very enjoyable meal.

Thirsty and hungry, the other half and I wandered into the General Practitioner on a (rare) sunny afternoon in Wellington. Greeted by friendly staff and many patrons we happily sat outside enjoying the sun. We ordered the chicken goujons, pulled pork bao & prosciutto, rocket & parmesan salad. I think the beauty of a small plates menu is that it... More

Went here on a quiet Tuesday evening because it was very convenient to our accommodation. This pub is in a very nice old building (used to be a doctor's surgery, hence the medical equipment hung around the place). Has indoor bar seating, more formal dining space upstairs (closed for a function while we were there) and outdoor deck. It has... More
