We had a early lunch here on a Sunday. The place was packed but we found a table. I had the smashed avocado with poached egg and a side of bacon. Hubby had corn fritters and the 16 year old had eggs bene with salmon....More

If I say our lunch visit to L Arte cafe was great you would not be too surprised. It is winter and our little drive up Mapara Road was rewarded with a great selection of food at very reasonable prices. The art on the walls...More

My Partner and I have recently purchased the Beautiful Belle vue Boutique just down the road and were thrilled to find this lovely cafe just up our road. We visit frequently and are never disappointed, although always an expensive lunch as we cannot resist shopping...More

We spent a relaxing couple of hours here for lunch. Great uncomplicated menu, good coffee and the opportunity to view the art whilst waiting for a table to become available. Alcohol is also served for those who fancy wine or beer with their food.

We hadn't been to L'arte for a while, lunch was very average. The menu sounded pretty good - avoid the lamb! Greasy and undercooked chops rather than delicate cutlets and little tackers kid meal was terrible, I can't figure out how the saveloys had been...More

But glad we did. Came with a large group but we were all served reasonably fast. The open bacon sandwich was lovely. Very friendly service. Don't go near the ceramic gallery as it is way too tempting.

.... and was surprised to see so few people there when the other indoor galleries, cafes & touristy places that we had visited that morning were so busy. Our experience was a good one - nice cafe food, friendly staff, quick service & pleasant surroundings....More

This is getting one star as opposed to no stars simply because of the cute art on sale. Overpriced and underwhelmed would be how I'd describe this place. Like many places that pretend to be upscale the prices are but the food isn't. A child's...More

We went for brunch and opted for a pulled pork bun, which was tasty and a cheese melt. The coffee was good and food okay. The most enjoyable part was wandering up to the gift store and browsing at the kiwi themed gifts and art...More

The amazing artworks at their shop are some of the best in the country. Along with the setting it will be a "must go" every time we pass through Taupo in the future. We had lunch one day & returned for coffee the next. Dietary...More

Description
Voted Lonely Planet's No 1 cafe pick for the Central North Island and one of the top 10 places to visit in New Zealand. L'Arte Cafe and Gallery is not to be missed when visiting Taupo. Allow yourself time to experience something very unique and special! A trip to L'Arte is a visual and edible feast and unlike anything you have experienced before. The cafe and gallery are both set in a magical garden, complete with an outside mosaic living room. The food and art at L'Arte's unique destination are both exquisite. Resident ceramic artist Judi Brennan's work is evident everywhere and is sold exclusively from the gallery at L'Arte. L'Arte Cafe serves Allpress coffee, has a wonderful selection of New Zealand wines and beers and the excellent service exceeds all expectations. With New Zealand's finest produce, L'Arte's kitchen team produce everything fresh on-site, from homemade bread to homemade pesto and onion jam. We have also created a small deli so you can take some of L'Arte home with you. L'Arte Cafe, Gallery and Garden is a special holiday experience that will stay with you .........
