This is the 2nd visit to this restaurant in Eats Street and we encountered exactly the same problems so I am asking myself why we gave it a 2nd chance?? Eating out is a treat for me and we went along as a group last Monday evening. The special at $29 is reasonably priced but I soon noticed this restaurant... More

My husband & I decided to try Ambrosia in Eat Streat. Welcoming staff & friendly. The menu had a good variety. The seafood risotto was excellent. Alot of seafood & gorgeous. I had the pork cerole ...well worth trying. Peppers were very tasty. The sun was out and they had a talanted guitarist playing. Will definitely go back. Value for... More

We arrived just before midday. We were greeted fairly quickly and given menus. There was only two other tables at this stage. Our food and drinks order was taken promptly and drinks arrived soon after. And then we waited, and waited. It took a full 40 minutes for our food to arrive , an Open chicken sandwich and a Caesar... Just checked the menu at the door and looked good. Sat down and were attended to promptly. We were not overly hungry so just ordered the mussel's and a salad on the side. Being used to tiny mussels back home (Toronto) we were pleasantly surprised at these big ones. The tasty sauce made the mussels. The waitress suggested a bottle... More

Average isn't, or shouldn't be, a damning review. Ambrosia was a mixed bag. The food was actually quite good. I had venison. I guess they had to find a deer because it took a very long time to arrive. The other meals were good if not great. It's OK but there are better choices nearby.

Although the food was perhaps a little lacklustre, at three courses for $29NZ, it would take harsher man than I to complain more than a slight mumble between mouthfulls of food. The thai soup was a strange choice to pair with bread and butter, the main course of steak was a little too sinewy, and the desert was really just... More

Our family dined at Ambrosia last night and the meals were delicious, as was the service. Very nice birthday celebration, we shall return.
