We were on our way to the lake. This cafe is at the buried village site, but you can use it without going in ( it is expensive). Lovely fresh food. Well worth a visit

Visited with my parents for coffee and scones this morning. Lovely setting. Staff were just delightful. Those scones were wonderful with fresh cream and jam. Great coffee too!! All served quickly and with a lovely smile. Plenty of dates in Dads scone which made his day.

Food was nice and fresh and scones were very good, but selection was a bit limited. Coffee was good.

Very quaint and pleasant way to recap on what we'd just seen and done. Lovely devonshire - homemade scones. Yum.

I am a Rotorua local and have been here many times over the years. Food is always of a good standard, prices fair and the service very pleasant and helpful. Very pleasant surroundings when sitting outside. The historic photos on the wall are so interesting.

This is a delightful and unexpected find. It is part of the Buried Village complex, but separate from it, and available to the casual passer-by. Plenty of parking, and a bright, light area, with the free walls lined with historic photographs. The service is quick and friendly, the cakes are delicious, and the atmosphere just right. This is worth a... More

I was a little apprehensive of a microwaved pie, but when it came out it was perfect. It was accompanied by a little bowl of what I thought was tomato sauce but turned out to be an amazingly delicious chutney. My wife's soup of the day was home made tomato soup, good and thick, with gluten free toast on the... More

This cute little teahouse is part of the Buried Village complex and it’s a quaint old-fashioned business with the quintessential Devonshire Tea – and it was very good! We toured the Village first then sat outside on the patio to have our ‘tea’ and a hot chocolate mid afternoon. If you are hungrier for more then there is also coffee... More
