My wife and I went to Provenir for Valentine's Day. We are often skeptical about restaurants in hotels, but having spent a long and wonderful meal there, our skepticism was completely misplaced. Provenir has many things going for it: 1) Amazing location and view from the dining room 2) Warm and accommodating staff 3) Terrific food 4) See 1, the... More

Our evening was amazing from the food to the adorable Scottish girl who served us. All the staff was amazing and gave great suggestions, from wine to main courses to what was their favourite desert. The chef I did not meet but wish I did because the dishes they created had amazing flavours. Very interesting and packed with unusual combinations... More

This little restaurant clearly takes pride in presentation and taste of their food. The chef put a lot of effort into every dish, and this shows. It really turned out to be an wonderful experience of tastes, and we would happily return to experience it all over again. With a complimentary starter, and palate cleansing sorbet in between, we thoroughly... More

What a pleasant surprise. My husband and I ended up going to this restaurant without much expectation after average meals in Paihia and it was superb! The staff was friendly and helpful and the food to die for! We were spoiled with several chef compliments during the night to add to the dishes that were perfectly cooked. I recommend to... More

We went to Bay of Islands for a long weekend without plan. We found Provenir on TripAdvisor with good rating. Since we are traveling with my 2 year old, we didn't prepare to go fine dinning. I called the restaurant, and ask them did they have high chair; They said yes.....well, so I assumed they are child friendly. The service... More

Excellent range of food and good quality. Portions are a bit small, but if you order a couple of side dishes you'll be ok. Took a while to take our order, but it was a full restaurant and there was only one poor girl taking orders.

We were so impressed with our meal. The restaurant is perched above the road with views out over the Bay and the Hotel's pool. It's fairly relaxed ambiance made the fine dining experience all the more unexpected. The whole meal was presented with an impressive attention to detail, beginning with a delightful "amuse" of Tuna Pate on a melt-in-the-mouth cheese pastry.... We had a wonderful meal at Provenir. The service was excellent. I had the beef and my husband had the fish special. The buffalo mozzarella salad was fresh and delicious. The bread and homemade butter was excellent. A perfect meal with a beautiful view!!

Description
Provenir is a modern local restaurant with a seasonally driven menu. The centre of the restaurant is the kitchen where ingredient quality is non-negotiable.

Provenir emphasises the age old formula of simple ingredients cooked well, freshness with a sense of energy, a little bit theatrical, true to life with quality and a story.

Hand made, artisanal, from farm to chef. We know our farmers, fisherman, wine makers & growers; from Rod McDonald with his Quarter Acre stunning Syrah, to Bill French who raises our Perendale Lamb, they are just a few of our team.

Head Chef - Marcus Berndt
