We went here for lunch , found the service poor and very slow ! Staff let kids run around like it was a playground and when the food did finally arrive it wasn't worth the wait, plenty of better places around !

We went to speights ale house for a meal. The food was good, my son got a bone in his kids fish meal but we aren't too precious about that. The issue came with a 45 minute wait for dessert which let's be honest was just a reheat of something prepared earlier. Not once in that 45 minutes did a... More

So visiting from out of town, we order seafood chowder, sirloin, porterhouse and pork belly. All the food and staff are great, unfortunately the pork was dry. Other than that great place!!!

We have been here a few times and the service is always very good. The staff are great, really friendly and attentive and nothing is too much trouble for them. Food is always cooked well and is tasty, great good honest pub grub. I had the fish of the day and it was cooked very well. There is a great... More

This place was great and had lots of locals eating there. The surroundings are interesting and comfortable and the food is really, really good. There was plenty of choice and the service was great. The barman/ waiter is a real Kiwi character and we had a good laugh with him. A really good place to go for a relaxed evening... More

Have eaten here before and loved Service and good food would have scored 5 stars. So disappointed today when food was warm and chips over salted. Saving grace was the staff continue to be friendly and attentive.

There was a problem with communication between staff and kitchen when we arrived and people were waiting for long periods for their food. Didn't worry us but could see a few people getting quite unhappy. Food eventually arrived and was excellent. The staff were under stress but coped well. We'll go back as we like the place and the staff.... More

The food here is fresh, well presented and substantial. Great place for families with lots of options for all palates. Bar downstairs where you can watch the rugby with dinner or restaurant upstairs. Unfortunately the last couple of times we have been the service has been super slow, both times was lunch - think they have been running a special?... More

The food was of a good quality but we were told even before we sat down that we had to hurry and order if we wanted our meals in a reasonable time. We were encouraged to order desert as well to save time. I personally found this unusual as we had met as a group of friends out to enjoy... More
