A great place to watch the sunset over the harbour, and have a seafood platter and glasses of sav blanc.

We chose three sharing plates for an evening meal. The sizes were smallish, but enough for two to share. We enjoyed the scallop dish best. Drinks are pricey, particularly the wines, so expect an expensive meal if you decide to have multiple drinks. We had one each, so the cost was not huge.

After checking TA before going to the Gintrap I was prepared to be wowed!. But I was disappointed. The location is great, overlooking the commercial harbour. There is lots of off-road parking and it's a comfortable place. The staff were good to a point (explanation later) Beer and wine list is sufficient for just about any palate and the menu,... More

My husband and I visited this Restaurant while on holiday in the Hawkes Bay. We sat out on there balcony under an umbrella on a gorgeous 34 degree day and shared a tasty fulfilling dish of baked like potato, kumara, pumpkin and brocolli cheese bites served with an aioli dip. It was so tasty. Loved the way it was presented.... More

Another great experience for lunch on a long weekend. The food options are really good for lunch. The drink options are very extensive too with something to please everyone. The service was great as it always seems to be. Great day and great lunch!

Ate here on a Friday evening when quite busy. Even so the staff were very attentive quickly taking our order and serving the food within a reasonable time bearing in mind how many others were eating. The food quality and its presentation was good. We enjoyed our time here thoroughly.

Best pasta in town. Good selection of dishes. Lamb rack was perfect. Staff are friendly and helpful. No air con on a 30 degree day was the only down side

Twice now when we have visited The Gin Trap, we have shared between two of us the seafood platter. The platter is devine. There is all sorts on there for the seafood lover. Marinated fresh fish, prawn toast, NZ mussells in the shell, bowl of chips, crispy squid, batter herbed fish, hot smoked salmon....aaahhh... Think that was the lot. Forgive... More
