I enjoyed having all my meals by the pool area. Good selection of options on the menu for all meals. Didn't have to wait long for meals ordered. Only wait was at breakfast with the toaster taking so long.

Coffee was cold and there was hardly any food left by 9am. Breakfast was supposed to be included in our room but we were charged $74 for it (Emerald Hotels issue). If we had known that we would have gone somewhere else.

Nice food but expensive. More variety would be lovely - and even an option of buffet breakfast. Seafood dishes were nice, would be great to have listed vegetarian options as there are none on the menu.

Based on the lower levels of the Emerald Hotel in Gisborne, Nicks Bistro is one of the better restaurants in Gisborne, not quite fine dining but more of a casual/upper class dine. Spacious dining area, clean tidy and comfortable. The staff stunning......and extremely helpful. I...More

Description
Chef Stephan Kellermann couldn't believe his luck when he moved to the East Coast where fresh produce, kai moana (seafood), various meats and award-winning wine is all on his doorstep.
The bistro is named for Young Nick - Captain James Cook's cabin boy who, legend has it, was the first to spot the white cliffs in Poverty Bay that were named in his honour.
Stephan combines his traditional German ingenuity with a regional Kiwi kitchen that features the very best food and wine on offer.
A daily blackboard menu reflects what is in season. Nick's Burgers is a great hit with all where you can build your own burger to your tastes.
